Located in Hayward, CA 94544, the market carries a broad selection of grocery items, with products associated with Mexico and other Latin American countries noted by customers. That range makes it a useful local stop when a recipe calls for familiar pantry staples or when shoppers want to explore ingredients beyond a standard supermarket selection. The store is open every day from 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM, offering a consistent window for weekday errands, weekend restocking, and last-minute meal planning.
Meat is a clear reason many customers visit EL SUPER MERCADO. Reviews specifically point to its variety of meats, and one shopper described being sent there by a family member for that selection. For households preparing home-cooked meals, the meat department can be a natural starting point before adding groceries from the wider store. Customers also ask about weekly meat specials, so shoppers interested in current offers may want to confirm availability directly with the market. Its appeal is especially clear for people who value choices while building meals around meat. The focus on meat selection and Latin American grocery products gives the store a distinct role among grocery options in Hayward, CA.
The shopping experience is described by one visitor as feeling like a Mexican store, an observation that reflects the market's product mix rather than a generic grocery format. Another customer praised a cashier as nice, kind, and helpful, and noted that credit cards are accepted. A reviewer also appreciated that the store could feel less crowded than other shopping options. The overall atmosphere comes across as functional and familiar, focused on shopping rather than a large-chain experience. Experiences in reviews are not identical, but together they offer useful context: EL SUPER MERCADO is a locally accessible market where selection, convenience, and day-to-day service matter to the people who shop there.
With a 4.1 rating from 233 reviews, EL SUPER MERCADO is worth considering for Hayward residents seeking a grocery run centered on Mexican and broader Latin American products, meat choices, and straightforward everyday essentials. It can suit families stocking up for the week, home cooks gathering ingredients, and shoppers who prefer a neighborhood-scale stop on Winton Ave. Whether you are planning a specific meal, replenishing staples, or browsing for products from Latin America, checking the current selection in person can help you find what fits your list. Sign in to reviewWhat a great store!!! I felt like if I were in a Mexican store. The lady who was in cashier is absolutely nice and kind, she helped us very much. In addition, there are many products available to purchase, not only from Mexico and other Latin America countries. They accept payments with credit cards. Certainly, I recommend it.
Unhelpful and Disappointing Service I called to check the weekly meat specials, but instead of answering my question, I was asked whether we shop there regularly since regular customers receive text notifications. While I understand the concept, for those who aren’t regulars, the gentleman on the phone never provided the prices and only told me to sign up via text. Sharing prices shouldn’t be difficult—or at least I hope not—and the whole interaction felt unhelpful and discouraging. Monarcas on Tennyson had no problem giving me the information when I called right after. Disappointing Customer service.
The only reason I shop here is because my mom sends me here to get meat. She likes it here because there's less people than at other stores and they have a variety of meats. But look at their produce 🤢 Also, while I was at the register, there was another customer who was not social distancing and the employee said nothing to him. I felt very uncomfortable as he kept getting closer, just not happy that employees don't care to keep their customers safe 😷
I wish I could give them no stars the watermelon I jus bought was rotten
Last time im going there. One of their restock workers was vaping inside basically blowing the smoke on my wife's face as she passes by the back refrigerator area. I respectfully asked him to smoke outside and mentioned it to his colleagues. Makes me question the hygiene of this place. While this pissed me off im choosing not to go shop anymore. Very disrespectful man. He's lucky i didnt knock his teeth out.
