Sign in to reviewWhile we're visiting LA/OC, we wanted to try as many different restaurants in the area as we could. My brother took us to this inexpensive ($9.99) theme restaurant. We're extremely skeptical with low price restaurant and this one is a hit and miss. The restaurant is in a big shopping center so there are many parking spaces. The restaurant is big and quite clean. The young female server was quite humorous and pleasant. Since we're hungry, my brother recommended the waterfall crispy chicken with rice for $9.99. This one is perfectly for someone who's single and wants a good portion dinner or lunch. The quarter leg of chicken is huge and extremely crispy, the tomato (red) rice has a little weird taste to it, I couldn't figure out and I didn't really like it. My wife ordered the $9.99 dry rice noodles bowl that was eatable, nothing specials, all the dishes came with a bowl of soup which is nice. Since the prices are so inexpensive, we ordered some fried calamari and flour cake fried for appetizers. The fried calamari is hard and chewy, no recommendation here. The fried flour cakes is actually good, crispy and tasty with the sauce provided. Overall, it's quite a nice and affordable restaurant. The food is not bad, nothing to rave about, for $10 you can have a nice full meal because the portions are big. I would come here for $10 dinner any time if I live around this area.
I found another hidden gem Vietnamese spot!! All noodle dishes are $9.99 all day which honestly feels rare these days. After 5PM, they also offer additional items for $3.99, $4.99, $8.99, etc. I went on a weekday around 2PM and it was packed, mostly Vietnamese customers, which is always a great sign. They have indoor and outdoor seating; we sat outside and it was really nice in the sun. Noodles come with pho by default (no extra charge). Switching to egg noodles or another type is +$1. They also bring a complimentary plate of bean sprouts (you can ask them to blanch it). I ordered #7 - Waterfall Crispy Chicken Dry Noodle. The chicken leg was huge with crispy skin. The meat was slightly dry, but still tasty overall, and for $9.99, no complaints. My friend got #1 - Grandpa's Dry Rice Noodle and #10 - Seafood Dry Egg Noodle. Portions were generous, and all dry noodles come with soup on the side. #1 had meatballs in the soup; the others didn't, but the broth was flavorful. Great value for a solid bowl of Vietnamese noodles and I'll be back when I'm craving something affordable and filling. *Heads-up: 1. The intersection is super busy. If front parking is full, there's more in the back. 2. They charge a credit card fee, so bring cash. 3. Service can be a little slow when it gets busy, but the staff is still friendly. 📍Grandpa's Kitchen Grill - Bar 168 - Garden Grove 14208 Brookhurst St, Garden Grove, CA 92843
Extremely affordable menu items, especially when visiting during the gap of hour of their sizzling beef. Most dishes are for $9.99 which is definitely hard to beat within the area. There's is ample seating, quick service and good vibes all around. Would recommend getting here a bit earlier than usual to beat the crowd or be ready to wait for seating. All the items were tasty and looking forward to returning soon again!
Outside patio seating with low plastic stools and tables will transport you to Vietnam. With music playing loudly it creates a fun vibe. This place serves an array of food. Egg noodles, pho, rice, and grill seafood at the evening. We ordered egg noodle soup and dry noodles with chicken along with a few dishes of grilled shellfish. The meat in my bowl were rubbery and dry but the soup broth was good. I don't recommend grilled seafood as most were not fresh and tasted rubbery. It's a fun place to grab a drink and listen music sitting outdoors.
Well, this was a surprise for me with an unexpected outcome. We came here after saw it on line and decided to try it out. Foods were Good and the menu was very creative. The deal of $9.99 is a winner, with a lots of choices. The portion was big that my wife couldn't finish it. We got a Grandpa dry noodle and chicken rice which were excellent. The services yes we're awesome and friendly. We hope to trying out more dishes in the future for sure.
