The market keeps long hours that fit weekday errands and weekend shopping. It opens from 08:30 to 21:00 Monday through Thursday, then from 08:00 to 21:00 Friday through Sunday. That schedule is helpful for people who shop before work, after dinner, or on a busy Sunday evening. Food and service details matter at any grocery store, and Hashi Market has a few clear areas shoppers mention. Prepared items such as rice rolls have been praised for tasting good, which makes the premade food section worth considering for an easy snack or meal component. The fish counter is another service point people notice, especially when choosing specific sizes or live seafood. Because reviews mention both positive hospitality and less consistent counter interactions, it may help to ask questions clearly and check your order before leaving.
Public feedback is mixed, with a 2.8 rating based on 15 reviews, so this Union City, CA market is best approached with realistic expectations. Some reviews raise concerns about checkout courtesy, return handling, deli freshness, and packaging for prepared foods. Those comments do not erase the value of a well-stocked neighborhood market, but they are useful for shoppers who care about food safety, customer service, and clear store policies. A quick look at dates, packaging, and receipts can make the visit smoother.
For Vietnamese, Asian, and local Bay Area households comparing grocery options near Decoto Road, Hashi Market offers convenience, extended hours, and a mix of daily essentials with prepared and counter-service foods. Because the business carries both packaged groceries and prepared selections, it can support a routine shopping list as well as last-minute needs for dinner, lunch, or a family gathering. It is especially suited for shoppers who know what they need, appreciate a stocked market, and prefer a nearby stop in Union City. If attentive service and deli freshness are top priorities, plan to inspect items carefully and speak with staff directly so your expectations are clear.

Sign in to reviewI like how well the market is stocked and the hospitality of the workers but the premade food sold there like the rice rolls are wrapped in a plastic bag rather than saran wrap. The food itself tastes great but using a plastic bag in place of saran wrap is most certainly not food grade and is not acceptable
I gave a 4 star rating a month ago (see below). However, today at 2:30 pm, the Hispanic person at the fish counter was very very rude! I asked for a small fish about 1.5 pound, his first response was “No, we don’t have that”! He said it without even checking the tank! It wasn’t until I insisted that I saw one that size that he went over to the tank and tried to look for it. And, he found one that’s 1.2 pound! Do, why was he so rude and unwilling to help???? This is totally unacceptable attitude and poor customer service! Your job is to HELP the customer find what they want, not to just “no” without even checking! Please give your staff a lot of training on GOOD customer service, especially at the seafood counter! We have many other Asian markets here in the Tri-City area that offers much better service! In March: The staff at the seafood counter was very attentive and pleasant, very unlike the previous bunch of the old management! This is a most pleasant and welcoming change👍👍👍👍👍
I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the service I experienced at your store. After paying for my items, the cashier simply pushed my groceries toward me and immediately began checking out the next customer, leaving me to bag my items on my own. I found this extremely unprofessional and inconsiderate. Has anyone on your staff experienced being treated this way? I felt completely ignored and disrespected as a customer. I hope you can address this issue so that future shoppers do not have to go through the same experience.
Looks like new management needs to give their store cashiers some new training! I had the unfortunate experience of having the cashier Sandy. I came in to return some canned items that I had purchased the earlier morning since I had purchased too many. As per Hashi Markets return policy, within 7 days it would be accepted. I returned it the SAME DAY and was questioned by the cashier about why i was returning it. I told her that I had purchased too many. The entire time she's shaking her head and giving me a unhappy look like I was some sort of criminal. I have shopped at this location for 5 years and it was the first time I had to deal with such unpleasantry. Please train your cashiers better so your customers don't feel discouraged from shopping here!
I bought a box of tofu pudding from the deli, and when I got home, I found it had gone bad. When I called them, they wouldn't admit there was anything wrong with their food. How could they possibly sell such food to customers? It could kill someone in a heartbeat! Such a large supermarket is unreliable.
