HC Foot Massage

I have lived in Mira Mesa for over 15 years. Within this time, I have gone and referred family and friends to HC Foot Massage. They are close to home and the price has always been reasonable. Last night, my back was hurting so I went for a massage (it has been awhile since I have had gone). Since my last visit their prices have went up. I wasn’t thrilled by this, but this is California…prices are always going up. The massage therapist was really good and she had even remembered me from a previous visit. As I lay, enjoying the massage I thought, I need to start coming here regularly. After my massage is what I didn’t like or appreciate. The receptionist motions me to come over to the counter and points to the total on the credit card receipt. Which I had paid with my credit card beforehand (and charged an extra dollar because they charge if you use a credit card). I had also tipped 20% BEFORE the massage. I don’t mind tipping for good service. The receptionist then informs me that they require a ten-dollar tip or 25% for a full body massage. I could not believe it! Suggested… Yes REQUIRED…NOOOO. It is up to the customer’s discretion upon tipping not the place of business. Well.… I will NEVER recommend nor will I ever get a massage from this place again. For those who plan to…this is how they do business.

I used to love this place. But over the last year, every time I go get a massage, they ask for a bigger tip and their prices have gone up. They have you pay cash before the massage. Then after the massage, the receptionist, tells you that you should tip even more money. I had already tipped 15%. They have done this the last 3 times I have been here this year. The massages are good. The location/office is just ok. It is so rude and awkward for them to ask for a bigger tip. There is a reason, people go to this not so fancy massage place, its because they do not want to spend a lot of money!

Been going to here for years. Depending on who you get, can get a decent massage for the price. We bought a package to get discount and it was based on per service. When we came back, was told that their price went up and we have to pay more. So essentially, the concept of paying ahead for a package deal isn't really a deal. I feel jilted as it was not a small amount of money to pay ahead of time to lock in the service price. I get that cost of living went up but an agreement needs to be honored. There's other choices and gaining a few dollars to lose long-term customer is not too smart.

Not impressed and won't be back. Had been here before for the $25 massages without complaints. When we booked this time they mentioned they are now $40 we scheduled it anyway. We arrived to find signs for $25 that included the full body. We tried to switch when we got there and they said it was not possible because we booked a full body. We did not argue. We were 15 minutes early for appointment and they mentioned our massage therapist was not going to be ready until 5pm when our appointment was, no biggie, that was expected. 5:15 rolls around and the front desk gal quickly rushes us to our rooms. She turns the light on and says these will be your rooms and leaves. No therapist in sight. We stood around for a minute expecting someone to walk up but nobody did. We both went in the rooms and close the doors and got undressed like normal. Sheets had stains on them like someone it spilled oil. I'm in the room alone and finally at 5:30 I got aggravated enough to get dressed and head to the lobby. The front desk gal frantically ran back to the break room and yelled and two therapists came out. She realized their error and mentioned we would get free hot stone massages and free facials. Still upset but I appreciated the gesture. The bed was hard, with no headrest or extra padding. It squeaked and popped EVERY time there was movement including anytime she applied pressure. When she went to get the hot stone she was gone for 4-5 minutes and 3 minutes the two times she left for towels. My massage was done 5 minutes early and I asked about the facial. The therapist asked if I had requested one at the front desk because it wasn't on my appointment. I was over it at this point and just got dressed. My massage was mediocre but my girlfriend's was good. Only thing getting them the 2nd star. I went to pay and only tipped $10 because of the horrible experience. The front desk lady told me it was low for an hour for two people. I agreed and let her know it's the lowest I had ever tipped as I usually do $20/person but it's the worst experience I have ever had. She asked why and I made her aware we started 30 minutes late after they forgot about us, didn't receive the facials that were promised, and they cut the massage short. She then asked me to reconsider the low tip and I walked out. Luckily won't be back soon as we typically come when visiting family in Mira Mesa. Never had an issue with the communal $25 massages. :-(

I'm surprised to find that HC Foot Massage is so poorly reviewed and rated! I had a mishap at work about a week ago and my whole body has been painful and sore since. My masseuse spoke very good English and also took his time to work where I told him was painful. Overall it was a great experience and super glad I went in as I'm already feeling a ton better. Highly reccomend.
