What sets Hoa Viet Market apart from larger chain grocery stores is its commitment to freshness. Unlike major retailers that freeze and later thaw their seafood, this market offers fish, shrimp, and chicken that are often caught the day before or that very same morning, kept fresh on ice for customers. Visitors rave about the live fish selection and the noticeable difference in taste that comes from truly fresh, wild-caught seafood. Whether you are preparing a traditional Vietnamese meal or exploring new Asian recipes, the quality of ingredients here speaks for itself.

Despite its smaller footprint, Hoa Viet Market packs an impressive variety of products onto its shelves. From fresh produce and vegetables to hard-to-find specialty items, this store fills a vital niche for the Canoga Park community. Customers appreciate that the stock is consistently well-maintained, with shelves rarely left empty for long. You will find essentials like galangal, lime leaves, culantro, pandan leaves, and even mock meats — items that can be difficult to source at mainstream supermarkets. For pet owners, frozen beef bones are also available as a special treat for furry friends at home.

One of the most frequently praised aspects of Hoa Viet Market is its people. The owner is known for being extremely friendly and helpful, personally guiding customers to find specific ingredients and offering suggestions along the way. The staff carries that same warm energy, creating an environment where shoppers feel genuinely welcomed. Whether you are a longtime regular or a first-time visitor exploring the area, you will find that the personal touch here makes all the difference. It is the kind of neighborhood store where the staff remembers your face and greets you with a smile.

For residents of Canoga Park and the surrounding San Fernando Valley area, Hoa Viet Market is more than just a grocery store — it is a community staple. As one of the only Asian markets for miles around, it serves as an essential resource for anyone seeking authentic Asian ingredients without the long drive into central Los Angeles. Whether you are shopping for everyday groceries, hunting for specialty items for a special occasion, or simply looking for the freshest seafood in town, Hoa Viet Market delivers quality, variety, and genuine hospitality every day of the week.

Hoa Viet is a nice small market offering produce and veggies, even live fish. The staff are friendly and helpful. Personally my own issue is more that because it's a small market it is limited in what they can carry. The meat section as an example appeared sparse because there were just a few items available sitting in otherwise large cases...contributing to a look of scarcity. I'd say the vegetable section and their seafood (fish... tilapia mostly) is their best sections here.

You don't have to travel in Los Angeles to get fresh fish, shrimp, and chicken, this is your spot! Unlike major grocery stores who freeze their food and then thawed out, this location has season captured the day before or that morning and kept on ice. The taste between farmed raises and wild caught is noticeably different. As well as a difference in texture between frozen and ice kept. Friendly staff and plenty of parking during the week. On the weekend parking, I have you parking in the bigger lot because there is a laundry mat location a few stores down, and it can get very packed. They have a variety of Asian Pacific food items for the traditional ingredients you might be looking for. But highly recommended for fresh seafood 👍

Been shopping here for a while now. All the staffs are great. I like what they carry and their stock is normally good and shelves don't stay empty. Last time we shopped there, we got a frozen bag of cut-up beef bones we give to our big dog as a treat each time we shop here. Long story short, it was forgotten to be put in our checkout bags and we realized once we were home. I usually do not get the receipts and this time was no different. I called telling them about what had happened, and they asked us to go back. We did, and without hesitation or any headache or interrogation, despite having no receipt, they handed us the bag of bones. They showed us how honest and respectful they truly are. It made my wife and I understand why we like shopping here and we will always support them. Great job to you all for being good human beings. Karma will always take care of you in a good way! We will continue to support and shop there even more often now after this incident. Thank you all! You all are amazing.

Granted it's a smaller market but it's the only one for miles around where you can get mock meats, fresh fish and "exotic" groceries.
