Hot Pot City is a Vietnamese restaurant located in the heart of Westminster, California, on Brookhurst Street — one of the busiest corridors for Vietnamese dining in Orange County. For anyone who loves the interactive experience of cooking at the table, this spot brings together two popular dining styles under one roof: traditional hot pot and tabletop BBQ. It is the kind of place where the meal becomes the activity, and that makes it a memorable outing whether you are a seasoned hot pot fan or trying it for the very first time.
The concept at Hot Pot City is straightforward and fun. Guests choose their soup base and then browse a selection of raw ingredients — sliced meats, fresh vegetables, noodles, and more — paying by the plate. The all-you-grab style means you control your portions and your budget. Soup refills, rice, butter, and sauces are included at no extra charge, which adds genuine value once you settle into your meal. If you enjoy the freedom of building your own bowl exactly the way you like it, this setup delivers.
One detail worth noting from local diners is that the restaurant charges a small fee for the soup base itself, a cost some first-time visitors were surprised to discover. Being aware of that ahead of time helps you plan accordingly. On the positive side, multiple guests have highlighted the helpfulness of the staff. For newcomers unfamiliar with hot pot etiquette, the team takes time to explain how everything works and checks in regularly to make sure the experience goes smoothly. That kind of attentive service turns a first visit into a comfortable one.
The atmosphere leans casual and lively, making it a solid pick for group dinners, date nights, or even a fun family outing. The dual hot pot and BBQ setup gives the table variety and keeps everyone engaged. Several reviewers have described it as one of their favorite local spots to return to, appreciating the combination of warmth from the broth and the hands-on grilling. It is especially popular among couples and friend groups looking for something more interactive than a typical sit-down dinner.
Hot Pot City is open seven days a week, with extended lunch hours on Monday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday starting at noon. Evening service begins at five o'clock Tuesday through Thursday. Located in Westminster, CA 92683, it sits in a convenient area surrounded by other Vietnamese businesses, making it easy to include in a larger outing through the neighborhood. If you are searching for a Vietnamese restaurant in Westminster that offers a hands-on dining experience with a social atmosphere, Hot Pot City is worth a visit.

Sign in to reviewI do not recommend this place's food. The meat is low quality and chewy. It did not seem too fresh. The broth had no flavor and it was 3$ more. I also wish there was more sauces. The food was edible and the concept of bbqing and hotpot is great, its just the food wasn't all that tasty. But biggest turn off is the price. This place is COSTLY for the amount of food you get. We ate for 90$ and it didnt feel like a 90$ meal, with bland sauces and low quality meat. I do like the fish tank and overall decorations. The service was decent
I hardly complain but this place is quite seriously dirty for a restaurant and is in need of cleaning. The back of the booth chair was so oily that my hair got stuck to it and I saw that there was a lot of other people's hair on the chair so I just sat straight up avoiding touching the hair. It was also horribly hot inside and everything is sticky. I left still feeling hungry and spent as much as a buffet. The sauces were lacking and the broth was very bland. I will not be coming back, but there's plenty of parking if that matters for you. For this price, I could have easily paid for all you can eat hotpot elsewhere in a cleaner environment and better quality and actually leave feeling full.
Somewhat pricey place but a lot of fun, too, and my first real hot pot and grill experience. WARNING! They charge $3 for the soup base but don't mention that charge on their menu. Soup refills were free. More butter and rice were free. Sauces were free. Lost 1 star for high prices. I had pork belly and chicken for my meats to fry. They were delicious. My soup choice was the Thai base. It reminded me of Hot and Sour soup but was a little bit sweet. I had the dumpling combo (2 dumplings plus vegetables to make your own soup). Also for my soup, I also had more bok choy, mushrooms, squash and tried most of the sauces. I didn't try the likely hot sauces - one of the peanut sauces awas hot enough.
Yummy in my tummy. One of my best place ever. You can have soup and grill your meat and veggie at the same time. Also help with your hangover when you sip on the soup too..lol They charge you by plates but love it because you grab what ever you want to eat. My boyfriend and a I favorite spot. I give this place an A+, 5 stars
It was mine and my girlfriend‘s first time ever getting hot pot, and the lady was so kind and explained clearly and concisely how everything worked. She checked up on us every couple of minutes to make sure everything was going smoothly. The food was great, nothing to complain about.
