House of Vintage is a vintage clothing store on SE Hawthorne Boulevard in Portland, Oregon, at 3315 SE Hawthorne Blvd, Portland, OR 97214. The shop is known from customer descriptions for its enormous scale and the sheer amount of clothing to browse. Rather than a small, tightly edited rack of secondhand pieces, it offers an expansive, multi-seller shopping experience under one roof. That size can make a visit feel like a treasure hunt, especially for people who enjoy taking their time and looking through a broad mix of vintage finds.
Shoppers have described discovering memorable graphic tees, including music and country-music designs, and some visitors say they have found pieces they were excited to take home. One customer called out a Garth Brooks tee as an especially good find, while another mentioned Blues Traveller and Santana shirts. Those examples reflect the kind of individual discoveries people may encounter, not a promise that particular items will be in stock. The inventory is extensive and can be unpredictable, so House of Vintage may appeal to vintage fans, thrift shoppers, and visitors hoping to uncover a distinctive garment rather than shop from a fixed selection.
The store’s scale is part of both its appeal and its challenge. Positive reviewers praise the volume of clothing, the atmosphere, and the possibility of finding something special. Others say the layout can feel overwhelming or difficult to navigate, and some find prices high. Customer accounts also vary on garment condition: while shoppers report great finds, some reviews describe clothing with rips, stains, soiling, or fabric that failed after purchase. It is sensible to inspect each item carefully, including seams and fabric, before deciding. Reviewers have also reported that purchases are nonrefundable, so check the current return policy with the store before buying if that matters to you.
Fitting rooms are available according to customer feedback, which can help when checking the fit of a one-of-a-kind piece. One review also notes a restriction on bringing in purses or bags measuring 12 inches or more in any dimension; confirm current store rules before your visit. The same feedback mentions that the store can feel warm, so plan accordingly. With a reported rating of 3.7 from 789 reviews, experiences are mixed: many visitors enjoy the range and discovery, while others emphasize the need to shop patiently and check merchandise closely.
House of Vintage is open daily from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., according to the listed hours. Its SE Hawthorne location makes it a Portland stop for anyone interested in browsing a large vintage clothing shop, comparing unusual finds, or spending time exploring secondhand style. Arrive with enough time to look through the expansive selection, keep expectations flexible, and assess condition and price before purchasing. For shoppers who enjoy the hunt, the store’s size and variety may be the main draw; those who prefer a curated, easy-to-navigate experience may want to allow extra time.

I understand there’s multiple sellers under one roof. But lots of clothing is ripped, stained or soiled, and for a huge markup. There should definitely be more quality control and/or a return system. There are no refunds if you notice once you’re home. The entire store has NO AC and it’s always sweltering in there. If they want customers to take more time shopping, they should make the shopping experience more pleasant.
Love going into this store. I have easily spent over $1K this year already. But got home today with two great shirts (Blues Traveller and Santana) and when my kid tried them on, they were dry rot. Completely tore right down the center. See photos. $100 down the drain as there are no refunds. Understandable but frustrating. Only giving two stars instead of one because the management and other employee who took my call were very kind, considerate, and understanding, even though they were unable to do anything. The moral of the story is that you should always check for dry rot before making a purchase. Completely bummed out to be out $100. Im hoping that the vendors who had the 1994 Blues Traveler Europe and 1999 Santana Supernatural shirts happen to see this. Extremely frustrating.
It was absolutely enormous, not particularly organized in any way, overwhelming, and quite a bit on the pricy side. There were so many clothes-SO many! I appreciated that they had fitting rooms but shopping was hard. Be aware that you cannot bring in a purse or bag that is 12+ inches at any part. But they do provide free lockers to keep your things in. Just didn't forget your payment method because the two checkout areas are in different parts of the store.
Really cute thrift store, absolutely massive. There was so much to see, plenty of good finds in there. They overall have a great vibe, definitely recommend it!
Found an AMAZING Garth Brooks tee for a steal!! Was in a huge rush so only had about 15 mins to look around while visiting Portland; but this was my second favorite thrifting stop besides the bins!! You guys have an amazing concept and I will certainly be back!!
