Imm Thai Street Food is a casual Thai restaurant at 2068 University Ave, Berkeley, CA 94704, close to the UC Berkeley area and convenient for an East Bay lunch or dinner. Open every day, it serves from 11:00 AM to 9:30 PM Monday through Thursday and until 10:00 PM Friday through Sunday. The restaurant holds a 4.4 rating from 1,586 reviews, and guest feedback consistently describes it as a busy local stop where flavorful Thai dishes, satisfying portions, and a student-friendly price point meet efficient, approachable service.
Among the dishes guests mention most often are Tom Kha, papaya salad, crispy pumpkin, Kua Gai, and Moo Ping. Pad See Ew stands out in several comments, including one diner who called it a favorite. Reviews also point to red curry, green curry, Pad Woon Sen, and Pad Thai, giving returning diners a useful starting point when deciding what to try. Tom Kha and red curry are described as delicious and fragrant, while another guest singled out the Moo Ping as especially enjoyable. The variety is useful for groups whose diners want noodles, curry, soup, salad, and small-plate choices at one table. Individual tastes vary: one reviewer found the Pad Thai and soup more ordinary, a helpful reminder that favorites can differ.
The experience is often lively rather than leisurely. Reviewers note that the dining room can feel cramped, and peak periods, particularly a Friday evening, may bring a wait of roughly 30 to 40 minutes. There are also reports of brisk table turnover, so the line may move faster than it first appears. Planning around the busiest dinner window can make the visit more comfortable. Once seated, diners describe a bustling but friendly team and prompt food delivery; one party received its appetizers and mains within about five minutes. Guests seeking extra heat can ask for chili paste, and staff have accommodated an egg-free Pad See Ew order.
For UC Berkeley students, nearby residents, and visitors looking for Thai food in Berkeley, Imm Thai Street Food works well for a casual meal with friends or a straightforward solo stop. The range of noodle dishes, curries, soups, salads, and snacks mentioned by customers makes it suited to sharing as well as ordering an individual plate. Its daily schedule also gives the neighborhood an option beyond weekday lunch. It may be less ideal for someone seeking a quiet, spacious setting or a guaranteed immediate seat at the busiest times. For diners who value clear flavors, generous meal options, and efficient service near University Avenue, this Thai restaurant remains a practical Berkeley choice.

Sign in to reviewCome for the food and good service! This was my first time here and I always see long lines, but the table turnover is high and so you'll get a table fairly quickly. Everything we had was delicious! Started off with the Tom Kha, Papaya Salad, and Crispy Pumpkin. All SO GOOD! Then we got the Kua Gai and that was so TASTY! Highly recommend!
Imm Thai serves yummy food at a student friendly price point. The pad see ew was my favorite here. Red curry and Tom kha were also delicious and fragrant. Ambience is a little cramped. Service is bustling and efficient, but friendly. 10/10 will revisit when in the east bay.
Came here with a friend on a Friday night, it was quite a crowd, had around 30-40 mins of waiting. We had Moo Ping as appetizers, Kua Gai and Green Curry as mains and they all came together in about 5 mins of waiting. They’re all very tasty! We were very full! Definitely recommended if you like southeast asian food! Excited to be back sometime in the future!
Loved the moo ping but thought the pad thai and soup were just okay. Not insanely special thai food to me being from SEA and having lived in LA, but definitely a solid option thats close to Cal
I ordered pad woon sen (pictured) and my partner ordered pad se ew. Tasted great and a good portion size. If you want more spice, you can ask for chili paste. The staff easily accommodated removing egg from the pad se ew. In general, the waitstaff were efficient and approachable. Service was very fast, though the food came out at different times. However, the gap was only a few minutes, so it's probably just due to limited kitchen counter space and not a big issue to me personally. My partner and I were lucky to be seated immediately, though the restaurant filled up pretty quickly during the lunch rush.
