Indian Bazaar & Cafe is an Indian grocery store in Katy, TX, combining everyday grocery shopping with a casual counter for tea and quick Indian snacks. Located at 653 Pin Oak Rd #4, Katy, TX 77494, it is a practical stop for nearby residents looking to pick up pantry items or take a short break while out running errands. With a 4.1 rating from 523 reviews, the business is a familiar option in the Katy community for shoppers seeking Indian groceries and simple cafe-style bites in one place.
The layout is useful to know before visiting: customers enter through the grocery store, while the snack and seating area is positioned past the cashier. Some reviewers note that the setup and separate menu can feel a little confusing at first, but it is designed more as a quick-stop cafe than a full sit-down restaurant. The atmosphere has been described as okay and relaxed for a brief visit, whether you are waiting, traveling through the area, or simply want something warm alongside your shopping.
Tea stands out in customer feedback as a highlight, and the cafe also offers items such as vegetable puffs, chaat, samosa chaat, and peanut chaat. Reviewers have mentioned occasional deals on chaat and other food items. Because food availability may vary later in the evening, visitors planning a snack stop may find it helpful to come earlier rather than assume a full menu will be available close to closing time. Indian Bazaar & Cafe is especially suited to people who want tea and a light Indian snack rather than a traditional lunch or dinner destination.
For grocery shoppers, the store is open from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM Monday through Friday, with Saturday and Sunday hours from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM. Customer experiences are mixed, including feedback about product labeling, shelf-price accuracy, and value-added services. Checking item prices and confirming any promotion at checkout can help make the visit more straightforward. For Katy locals who value the convenience of an Indian grocery store with an on-site snack counter, Indian Bazaar & Cafe offers a functional, neighborhood-oriented place to shop, have tea, and grab a quick bite.

Sign in to reviewI have been visiting this place for quite some time, and it used to be a good experience earlier. However, my recent visit was quite disappointing. They have a value added service to attract customers, and I used it. Unfortunately, the item/service provided was not usable, and when I reached out for a replacement, the experience got worse. The person at billing counter and response over the phone were quite rude, and instead of resolving the issue, I was asked to take something that didn’t meet expectations. It felt frustrating to have paid for something that I eventually had to discard. I hope they improve both the quality of these services and their customer handling. Sadly, based on this experience, I don’t feel inclined to return.
I live about a mile from this store, but I only shop here when it's absolutely necessary. Unfortunately, the store does a poor job of labeling products and placing accurate price tags on the shelves. As a result, there are frequent discrepancies between the displayed price and the price charged at checkout. This has happened to me multiple times, and it's frustrating to constantly double-check prices or wait for price corrections at the register. Accurate shelf labeling is a basic expectation for any retail store, and management needs to pay more attention to keeping prices current and correctly matched to the products on display.
The atmosphere here is quite okay, but the tea is the highlight. If you’re expecting a restaurant for lunch or dinner, don’t bother. This place is more like a quick stop. I visited at 8:30 pm, and they informed me that the restaurant was closed and we could only order vegetable puffs or tea.
We came to this place on our way to somewhere. We wanted to grab a snack then ended up seating down and eating here. It was confusing around first. When you walk in it is a grocery store. They after the cashier they have a snack section. It was hard to know the seating area had a separate menu which was actually a semi restaurant. We ordered a few snacks. Everything was warm. The chaats were not up to mark. Samosa chaat was like boiled lentil or something. Did not taste good. My family liked the bhelpuri. I thought otherwise. Papri chat was ok. No our second visit we tried dahi dahi bora and dosa. They were good. We thought the dahi bora were smaller than usual. Dosa was good. I find the place not clean or neat. They have boxes stacked in the semi-restaurant. They should make the place more welcoming and warm. The trash which is next to the washing station needs a good scrub. They need to make it more sparkly. The people taking orders and delivery it were nice. Someone came and checked on us and even informed us about freshly made sugar cane juice. And they offer free tea. Only tea lovers know what that means. I find the price listing very reasonable. You can hardly see this price menu anywhere anymore. I think they should make the entrance to the restaurant separate from the grocery store. Maybe keep the shared door for access but keep it close.
Food is okay. They occasionally have deal on chaat and and other food items. But if you get the item on deal and other item, they over charge you on the regular food items to compensate their profit. This has happened to me twice. On each occasion, I got 2 samosa chaats and a peanut chaat. Samosa chaat is $4.99 each and $2.49 for peanut chaat after 50% off. They charged me $11 marked as 'other' for two samosa chaats. Latest encounter on 5/13/26. An elderly short lady with specs.
