Sign in to reviewThe area looks so clean. Comfortable ambiance. Food was authentic indeed. We tried the palabok, tokwat baboy, crispy pasta, kare kare and sinigang. All of them have authenticity, filipino food indeed. I miss filipino food and this gave me what my taste buds are craving. The service staff are filipinos as well and they were nice, professional and hospitality shown.
Had an amazing experience at Kabayan Kusina! The food was delicious and full of authentic Filipino flavors that felt like a home-cooked meal. Great portions, friendly staff, and a warm atmosphere made the visit even better. Definitely a hidden gem in San Antonio and a place I’d happily visit again!
Tried Kabayan Kusina with my partner for our anniversary, and it was really good! We got the lumpia, crisply belly roll, and chicken adobo. Everything was flavorful and cooked perfectly. The pork belly had a great crunch, and the adobo was super savory and comforting. The portions were huge and we definitely appreciate the leftovers. Definitely coming back!
Today we feasted at Kabayan Kusina! The food was excellent. Adobo - large pieces of chicken - my daughter’s favorite. Sauce was delicious, on the sweeter side. Bbq skewers - super flavorful. Sweet as well. Great protein to complement the meal. Lumpia - came very large! Crunchy and perfect side. Was a pleasant surprise. Dipping sauce that came with it was good too. Kare kare - nice big oxtail and very flavorful sauce. Veggies were cooked to perfection. Side of bagoong was the perfect compliment. Not sure if their bagoong was made in house but it tasted special! Sisig - my favorite and highly recommend. I could easily overeat this. The contrast of the sear and crunch and soft parts were sooo good. A must order. Halo halo - I’m not a huge Filipino dessert person but my table devoured this. They had a nice big piece of leche flan in it that was delicious. Large portion - everything that you would want halo halo to be. Service was friendly and attentive. Presentation was admittedly nicer than I expected from a more mom and pop place. It was “ooohh” and “ahhhh” standard. Gotta check out this family-owned and operated place! Support local. :)
Kabayan Kusina was a lunch stop with someone and we ordered a pretty good variety... lumpia, pancit bihon, crispy pork belly roll, and pork BBQ sticks. The lumpia is made to order so it comes out hot and fresh. It's packed with seasoned ground beef and you can tell the difference. We got the pancit bihon with pork and the balance of protein and veggies was really good. We added their house made chili oil to the noodles and honestly that was the move. Nobody around town makes chili oil like that. The crispy pork belly roll was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, stuffed with herbs, garlic, and onion. The aromatics really enhance the dish and took it to the next level! The pork BBQ sticks were juicy and you could taste the marinade. The sauce leaned sweet but with everything else on the table it balanced out really well. This is a Filipino family owned and operated business and it shows. The staff is really friendly and you can tell they take pride in what they're serving. They also have a small selection of Filipino grocery and food items if you want to take something home. If you're on the northwest side of San Antonio, this place is worth the visit! TikTok: @gabbieinthegalley
