Kim Tai is a real jewel in the rough with the hole in the wall appearance giving way to outstanding food and super nice folks running the place. We had the rock n roll beef (pictured - delicious), banh mi with pork (solid), wide rice noodle with pork and bean sprouts (outstanding), bun with pork and egg roll (average) and crawfish (pictured - excellent). Overall, really good food and reasonably priced. Great service. Beer suitable for the food. Definitely would come back again when in Houston.

Kim Tai is easily one of those spots that reminds you why Houston has such an incredible food scene. The flavors here were really, really good across everything we tried. I asked our server for their personal favorite or recommendation, and the dish I was given did not disappoint at all. The menu had a spicy indicator for the dish, but once I tasted it, it wasn’t overly spicy in heat. Instead, it had deep, layered flavor, the kind of spice that builds complexity rather than just burning your mouth. If you appreciate bold flavors without everything being painfully hot, this hits the mark perfectly. We also tried fresh spring rolls and a comforting noodle soup, both of which were well-balanced, fresh, and satisfying. You can tell the kitchen really knows what it’s doing when it comes to seasoning and broth depth. The dining area itself isn’t very large, so seating is limited. When we went, it was during the lunch rush, and there was only one person managing the floor and register, so the wait was a bit longer but that was completely understandable given how busy it was. Overall, Kim Tai is a Houston staple for a reason. The food quality, flavor depth, and consistency make it one of the best Thai spots in the city, in my strong opinion. Definitely a place I’ll keep coming back to.

Why are you are not eating here when they are open 7 days a week, with great prices, and cool vibes of Vietnamese bolero singers like ho hoang yen serenading you while eating some of the best food in Houston Texas? Why? and!!!! the owners + family who run it (for decades) are so nice and friendly, I love this place! Tell Everyone Bring Everyone!!! The tofu is amazing. The stir-fry noodles with little crunchy edges are amazing. The homemade lemonade is amazing. The pork is amazing. The Yu Choy is amazing. The bean sprouts and veggies are always extremely fresh, crispy, cooked perfectly, and overall everything I have had so far is amazing.

I ordered the Rock n Roll Beef, Combo Fried Rice, Egg Rolls, and 1 Combo Banh Mi, and 2 Grilled Beef Banh Mi Sandwiches to go, and a Grass Jelly Drink. Everything was great! When I came after 4pm it was very busy here and that was a good sign. My server was likely the owner and he was super friendly. I can tell he takes pride in making sure the food is delicious and his customers leave very happy. As good as the food, service, and price is they definitely could use more seating. It seems they have a lot of regulars coming since they knew some of the names of several of the customers who came and went while I was here. Also, he/ they speak very good English too. Although I'm not from the area I will definitely come back again whenever I am over this way. Unfortunately I forgot to take a picture of the Bo Luc Lac I had, but I thought it was very yummy, and the beef was super tender with lots of flavor. I highly recommend them so please come see them.. you'll be happy you did. 👍👍

I used to frequent Kim Tao back when Les Givrals was still around on Milam. Solid place every time and I genuinely recommend it for a quick bite when you know what you want. Service might be slow but suck it up. It’s locally owned and it actually has depth of flavor. I got the grilled pork banh mi. It’s stuffed with meat and under 8 bucks. The pho is great and a reasonable portion.
