Lá Xanh Restaurant is a Vietnamese restaurant in Santa Ana, CA that focuses on comforting, southern-style Vietnamese dishes in a simple neighborhood setting. Located on W 1st Street, this small local spot is known for serving hot noodle soups, crispy bánh xèo, and a concise menu that reflects familiar flavors many diners look for in Little Saigon. With a 4.3 rating from 143 reviews, Lá Xanh Restaurant stands out for food that feels straightforward and homey rather than flashy, making it a practical stop for locals who care most about the bowl in front of them.
Many customers specifically come here for bún riêu, which is one of the dishes mentioned again and again in reviews. Diners note a well-flavored broth with seafood and tomato notes, along with generous portions of fresh herbs and leafy vegetables on the side. Other dishes that get attention include bánh canh, bún nước lèo, bún mắm, bún cá thì là, and bánh xèo. The bánh xèo is often described as thin, crispy, and tasty, while the soups are known to arrive very hot, so it is the kind of place where the meal feels freshly prepared and best enjoyed slowly. Reviews also mention around ten southern Vietnamese country-style dishes on the menu, which gives the restaurant a more focused identity than a broad, all-purpose menu.
The atmosphere at Lá Xanh Restaurant is modest and intimate. Reviewers describe it as a small restaurant with only a few tables, which adds to its casual, no-frills character. Service can feel brief and efficient rather than especially warm, so this may be a better fit for diners who are comfortable with a simple come-in, eat, and go experience. For many guests, that is part of the appeal: you arrive, settle in with your company, and let the food be the main event. If you enjoy smaller family-style spots in Santa Ana where the focus stays on traditional dishes, this setting will likely feel familiar.
Because of its size, parking may be limited, and the compact dining room can make the experience feel busy at peak times. Even so, people continue to return for signature items like bún riêu and bánh xèo, as well as the fresh vegetable accompaniments that help define the meal. Some reviews mention complimentary chè, adding a small sweet touch to the visit. Overall, Lá Xanh Restaurant is a good choice in Santa Ana, California for diners seeking southern Vietnamese soups and specialties, especially if you appreciate focused menus, crisp textures, fresh herbs, and an unfussy local atmosphere.
Open from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM most days and closed on Wednesdays, Lá Xanh Restaurant works well for breakfast, brunch, or an early lunch in Santa Ana. Whether you are craving a bowl of bún riêu, curious about bún nước lèo, or stopping by for a crispy bánh xèo, this Vietnamese restaurant offers a grounded, local option for everyday dining in Orange County.

Sign in to reviewGood food. Yummy Bun Rieu with great portion of fresh leafy minty add-ons. Service was not too friendly. Just come, eat, mind your own biz and company, they will deliver the food to your table..
Small place that serves soups like bánh canh and bún Riêu as well as bánh xèo. The lot is even smaller. We like coming here for the Bún Riêu though. All the soups come out super hot and I've burnt my tongue because of it but the food is pretty good. Nước Lèo is also pretty good. Free chế is provided with the meal, but they give it to you while you're eating your meal instead of after, almost as if they want to push you out as fast as possible.
