Bánh mì is the standout here. Customers describe generously filled sandwiches made with fresh-tasting ingredients and bread that is crisp on the outside while remaining soft inside. The Crispy Pork Belly Bánh Mì is one specifically mentioned favorite, praised for its crunchy texture and flavorful filling. Reviews also mention trying multiple kinds of bánh mì, making the shop appealing if you’re choosing lunch for yourself or picking up different sandwiches to share. Fresh preparation is a recurring part of the feedback, so the experience is centered on made-to-order food rather than a grab-and-go sandwich that has been sitting around.
There are more options than bánh mì alone. Customer favorites mentioned in reviews include beef stew served with baguette, summer rolls, spring rolls, pâté chaud, jasmine milk tea, boba drinks, and Vietnamese coffee. These choices make Lula useful for different appetites: you might stop in for a sandwich and coffee, bring home rolls to share, or add a bakery snack and tea to your order. The menu details available here come from customer experiences, so ask the business directly if you need current ingredients, availability, or options for a particular dietary preference. That practical check is especially helpful when planning an order for a group.
The atmosphere is described as colorful and cute, while the setup is primarily geared toward pickup and takeout. Seating appears limited: reviews mention a bench table with a few chairs inside and a couple of outdoor tables, while another customer notes that there isn’t much indoor seating. If you hope to eat on-site, it may be best to plan for a quick, casual stop and confirm what seating is available when you arrive. Lula is especially well suited to lunch breaks, easy dinners, and picking up Vietnamese favorites to enjoy elsewhere. Lula banh mi is making some of the tastiest banh mis in the area. They have some fresh and delicious tasting ingredients inside the banh mis. They also offer a few other Vietnamese favorites. One thing to note is that they are only available for pickup orders and don't really have any seating inside. They say they make hourly/daily fresh baguettes, which other local competitions don't do. These are not store-bought, which makes them stand above the competition. You can tell from tasting it. The Bánh mis pack some of the most amazing flavor I have tried on a banh mi. To me, this is my favorite banh mi in Charlotte. Though I can't say how truly authentic they are, I can confirm they are delicious. I absolutely recommend it. Pate chaud 5/5- perhaps a bit smaller than average. The dough is flaky and buttery as expected. The dough wasn't bursting with flavor, but it was still really delicious. The pâte was still savory and actually was a good portion of it. Others may have little filling and more pastry, but this one had a good portion of both. Once you bite into it, you immediately get that delicious flavor. May not be as big as others, but the others give you more dough than that yummy filling, so it makes this one's size more justified. I really enjoyed it. Grilled pork (Nướng ) 5/5- What a beautiful banh mi with a beautifully seasoned pork filling. The pork is not only very flavorful but also has a parts of the skin where it is crispy. What is really beautiful about the banh mis here is that they use an aoili that adds a magical flavor to the entire sandwich. Some banh mis don't add enough or any aioli or mayonnaise, so this one already stands above the rest. It may seem like a small addition, but it can beautifully blend that nice flavor with the freshness of the vegetables and savory warmness of the grilled pork. This one is just so super delicious. I highly recommend this one. Cold cut classic (NGUỘI) 4/5 - Not as good as the grilled pork, but this is a traditional flavor for banh mi and still tasted amazing. It has the same good qualities as the grilled pork banh mi except that it was with the cold cuts. The cold cuts themselves had a good flavor, but I personally prefer a hot protein in my sandwich. Besides, it is seasoned more than a cold cut could ever be seasoned. It is still delicious.
These are the best bahn mi sandwiches in Charlotte. They are made fresh with amazing bread. The outside is crispy but not hard. I don’t know if they scoop the inside or if it is so soft that it gives way to the huge amount of sandwich filling they put inside. They are made fresh to order, but it doesn’t take long to get it. The shop itself is clean and the service is really friendly and great. I sat at one of the outside tables to eat. It was sunny and warm. It was so filling I could only eat half.
I came to Lula Banh Mi & Bakery today and I’m so impressed! I ordered the Crispy Pork Belly Banh Mi, Jasmine Milk Tea, Beef Stew with baguette, and Pâté Chaud — everything was absolutely delicious. The crispy pork belly banh mi was perfectly crunchy on the outside and flavorful inside. The bread was fresh and light, just how a good banh mi should be. The jasmine milk tea was smooth, fragrant, and not overly sweet. The beef stew was rich, flavorful, and comforting — the broth was amazing and paired perfectly with the baguette. Even the pâté chaud was flaky and tasty! I recently moved here from Houston, Texas (which has a lot of great Vietnamese food), and I can honestly say this is the best banh mi bakery I’ve found in North Carolina so far. Truly a hidden gem. I’ll definitely be coming back!
Everything was great, had 2 types of Bahn Mi, and Summer and spring rolls, 2 bobas, 1 vietnamese coffee, all were great. Only outdoor tables and no bathroom, hope they succeed, expand, and upsize!
Went in for some small bites at this cute little place. The place is more set up for takeout. However, there is a long bench table with 4 chairs where you can sit and eat while looking out the front of the store. Also 2 little round tables outdoors. Love the colorful aesthetics. I tried some delicious springrolls and refreshing iced Jasmine milk tea.
