Sign in to reviewAlways a delight to pickup freshly made filipino deserts. The lumpia is flavorful. The pandesal bread is made with alot of love... the best, especially straight out of the oven. The turon is bangin' absolutely yummy. One stop shop market and other filipino favorites... hearty food! Family oriented restaurant of course.
Just tried MY Chockdee Oriental Market for the first time and I’m honestly impressed. The food is packed with flavor, everything tasted fresh, authentic and made with care. You can tell they don’t cut corners! What really stood out though was the service. The staff was super friendly, welcoming, and happy to help with recommendations. On top of that, the owners were personally taking great care of customers, making sure everyone was enjoying their experience, that kind of attention really makes a place feel special. If you’re in the area and craving something flavorful and different, this spot is definitely worth checking out. I’ll definitely be back!
I just went here today and I'm not even going to wait until tomorrow to leave this review. I drove about 30 minutes one way to get there based on the reviews and it did not disappoint. I'm looking forward to my repeat trip in the near future. I got two combos, adobo and kare kare. I only ate the former one for dinner and everything was awesome. Perhaps there could have been a bit more meat in the container because these were pork ribs so a lot of bone that you can't eat. But it was still very tasty. The pancit, eggplant, and veggies that were included were really good. Not bland but flavorful. I ate the lumpia right away because those tend to get soggy. I think they are very good but they would have been better had I eaten them sooner and didn't wait for the ride home. They brought out a lechon container as I was about to check out so I grabbed one of those too. It also was one of the best I've tried. What made theirs different is that the meat was tender and the skin was crisp with the right balance of salt to really make the pork pop. The turon was one of the best I've had And it's huge. I've been to some places where they give you small lumpia size turon And they are just okay. This one has some caramelized sugar and I will always get it next time I'm there. On the grocery side I got the kutsinta to take home and it's also one of the best I've had. Very lightly sweet and very tasty. They give you grated coconut you could add to it as well. Bottom line, the reviews are justified. Definitely one of my favorites now in San Antonio. Paid about $50 for everything and it was worth every penny. The grocery store was also well stocked, not the biggest store but it had all the things I'm familiar with that I would need, there's even a freezer for Filipino ice cream. Glad I made this part of my weekend!
As a former Bostonian who recently moved to the San Marcos area, I’ve been on the hunt for a authentic "Mom and Pop" spot like the ones back home. M.Y. Chockdee is a total gem—it has that classic storefront vibe but with a fully dine-in seating area, which was a huge plus! Back in Boston, we have amazing Vietnamese, Laotian, Thai and Cambodian food, but I hadn't really tried Filipino cuisine until now. This place is incredible. On my first visit, I tried the pork belly, BBQ pork skewers, garlic fried rice, and pork egg rolls. Pro-Tip: When I got home, I put the pork belly in the broiler for a minute to extra-crisp the skin... OMG. The flavors are absolutely delicious. I’ve already been back twice in less than a week! Most recently, I brought my husband and we shared the fried chicken combo plate. The portions are huge, the prices are amazing, and the service makes you feel right at home. Do yourself a favor and try different things on the menu—you really can’t go wrong. Can't wait to go back this weekend! 🤗
Great selection of products. The deli was terrific and every dish looked amazing. Best deal on pancit and lumpia also. People there were extremely nice and very helpful. We will definitely be back!
