Maiwand Market is a neighborhood grocery store on Fremont Blvd in Fremont, CA, serving shoppers who want Afghan and Middle Eastern pantry staples, halal meats, and fresh bakery items in one convenient stop. Located at 37235 Fremont Blvd, Fremont, CA 94536, United States, the market is especially relevant for local families, home cooks, and anyone searching for authentic ingredients without driving across the Bay Area. With a 3.9 rating from 515 reviews, it is a well-known Fremont market with loyal customers as well as some mixed feedback, so visitors can expect a busy, community-focused shopping experience.

The butcher counter is a major reason people seek out Maiwand Market. Reviews frequently mention fresh, hand-cut, hand-slaughtered halal meat, with goat meat and bone marrow bones called out by repeat shoppers who still travel to Fremont from nearby cities. For customers planning family meals around quality halal meat, the market’s butcher service is one of its clearest strengths. If you care about specific cuts, quantities, or preparation style, it is worth asking at the counter before you buy.

The grocery selection supports Afghan and Middle Eastern cooking, from everyday staples to specialty items that may be harder to find in standard supermarkets. The bakery is another part of the draw, with customers mentioning fresh bread and seasonal sweets such as Kolcha cookies for Eid. The feeling is practical, local, and unmistakably cultural: shoppers describe real Afghanistan vibes, quick errands, and the kind of familiar food traditions that make a market more than a place to pick up groceries.

For local searchers, Maiwand Market fits the needs of households looking for an Afghan and Middle Eastern grocery store in Fremont, CA with halal meat, bread, and culturally specific ingredients under one roof. It can be a useful stop before family gatherings, weekend cooking, Ramadan or Eid preparation, or a simple weekday restock. Hours are consistent, generally 9:30 AM to 6:30 PM Monday through Friday and until 7:00 PM on Saturday and Sunday, making weekend visits easier for busy families.

As a trusted local listing, FindALoco also notes that customer experiences at Maiwand Market are not all the same. Many reviews praise the meat quality, breads, and authentic selection, while some shoppers raise concerns about service, lines, and product freshness. The best approach is to shop with clear expectations: check packaged bakery items, ask questions when needed, and visit earlier in the day if you want fresh bread or butcher-counter options. For the right shopper, this Fremont market remains a distinctive neighborhood resource in the East Bay.

I recently visited MAIWAND Market on Fremont Blvd. in Fremont, CA. This grocery store specializes in authentic Afghan and Middle Eastern food, offering a wide range of products that cater to the Afghan community. They have a butcher shop with fresh, hand-cut and hand-slaughtered halal meat, a bakery with some of the best bread in the Bay Area, and a variety of sweets, spices, and home essentials. While they offer a diverse selection of goods, their prices are slightly higher compared to other grocery stores. Street parking is limited and there is a large lot behind the store. Customer service is average—not great, but not terrible either. On the other hand, Maiwand Market & Grocery Store has some issues that need improvement, particularly in their bakery section. The bakery staff is rude and needs to work on their attitude. Unfortunately, they treat customers differently, which is unacceptable. Everyone deserves to be treated with respect and fairness, regardless of who they are. While the store may offer good products, their customer service needs serious improvement before I could recommend them. Overall, I’d rate this store 4 out of 5 for its authentic selection, quality meat, and excellent bread, despite the slightly higher prices.

Reviewing again 2024- We now shifted to San ramon and still don’t mind travelling to Fremont to get the best quality goat meat, breads and Ofcourse Bone Marrow bones for our furbaby Hachi. Best Quality Meat for sure 👍 Pros - Exceptionally great quality of goat meat available. We don’t mind travelling to fremont from Milpitas to buy the Goat meat, Whole Chicken and the in house bread. Breads are baked daily. The store is clean, spacious with great customer service. Don’t be hesitant to try the meat. 100% Happy Customer Cons- Parking is a bit pain at times.

Very disappointing experience. Maiwand Market’s customer service has gone downhill. The butchers and especially the counter staff are extremely rude and disrespectful. It seems that since they’ve gotten more customers, they care less about treating people properly. I used to enjoy shopping here, but I don’t feel valued anymore.
