Mangal's Market is a grocery store at 1699 E 14th St in San Leandro, California, serving shoppers looking for foods and familiar pantry items connected with Fiji and the Pacific Islands. For people who grew up with these products or have spent time in Pacific Island communities, the market can feel comfortingly familiar: one customer described it as a step back in time because of the items on its shelves. The store's focus on Fijian-oriented groceries makes it a practical local stop for household shopping as well as for finding ingredients that may be harder to spot at a typical neighborhood supermarket.
Customers specifically mention fresh meat, Fijian fish, and kava among the products they come in for. These details are useful for San Leandro shoppers planning meals, replenishing staples, or seeking items associated with Fijian food traditions. Reviews also describe reasonable prices and satisfactory meat quality, while individual selections and availability can naturally vary. Rather than presenting a generic grocery run, Mangal's Market offers a more specialized shopping experience rooted in products its Fijian customers recognize. The spacious interior and free off-street parking noted by a reviewer can make it easier to browse and carry home a larger order. Its E 14th Street location is also convenient for shoppers traveling through San Leandro.
The atmosphere is described by some visitors as spacious and welcoming, with friendly service on repeated visits. At the same time, feedback is mixed, including reports about customer-service concerns and one report of an opening-time discrepancy. That range of experiences is worth keeping in mind when choosing where to shop. Mangal's Market is especially suited to Fijian and Pacific Island households, curious cooks seeking regional groceries, and anyone in the Bay Area who values access to meat, fish, kava, and familiar cultural staples in one place. Families stocking up for home cooking may appreciate its focused selection and room to browse.
For the clearest visit, plan around the posted schedule: Mangal's Market is listed as open Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and closed Monday and Sunday. Since a customer reported that the actual opening time differed on one occasion, it is sensible to confirm hours before making a special trip. Whether you are buying everyday groceries or searching for Fijian market items in San Leandro, CA, this independently reviewed grocery store provides a distinct option at 1699 E 14th St. It is a place to explore at your own pace, compare current choices, and find products that connect shoppers with Pacific Island food traditions.

Sign in to reviewFeels like a step back in time, especially if you grew up with the items sold here. If you have lived in the Pacific Islands area, you would recognize some of these items. The store caters to people from Fiji. The store is spacious, and the staff friendly. There is a good amount of free off-street parking in the back.
I really like the customer service here, contrary to what I'm reading from others. They're friendly to us every time my wife and I come in. The prices are reasonable, and I've found zero issues with the meat quality. I'm frankly very surprised that so many people don't like this place as much as we do. My only complaint it that sometimes they don't have the big, non-sweet plantain. That stuff is hard to find! :)
I called this place cause it says they are open at 10am..a lady answered and said that they aren't open till 11am. I said, Ok fine then change the time. The lady answered, No cause goggle makes the time they are open and it cannot be changed. Really? Goggle can just make up random time a business is open and it can't be changed?!? I guess the lady thinks I was born yesterday. BTW there isn't a recording to say specifically the hours of operation..I called. But was rudely told that there is and was hung up on. I was going to spend $$$ here but not anymore!!
Best Fijian Market in the Bay Area. I get my fresh meat and Fijian fish from here. Awesome deals and these people also sell kava which is another plus point to this store. My husband and I love shopping at Mangal’s.
Zero customer service skills, little kid wanted to use the restroom very urgently, they said no, we spent $500.00, please learn to be human beings and be considerate about others needs. Extremely rude people and would never recommend anyone to this business.
