Baking is central to the experience at Mey Cafe and Bakery. Reviewers describe pastries and quiche with properly flaky crusts and fillings whose ingredients come through clearly, a useful detail for anyone who values texture as much as flavor. The scones have drawn particular praise for being moist, flaky, and satisfying; a ham and cheese version was noted for its generous pieces of ham. An almond cookie has also stood out for a fluffy, moist texture reminiscent of a small marzipan-meringue bite. The clear attention to crust and filling will appeal to guests seeking distinctive baked goods.

Sweet options give regulars another reason to return. Customers mention strawberry and blueberry cakes, while also noting that the selection can change from one visit to the next. That changing daily assortment makes Mey Cafe and Bakery a fitting pick for people who enjoy seeing what is available rather than ordering the same display every time. Custom cakes available to order add a practical option for customers looking for a made-to-order cake from a Berkeley cafe and bakery.

The drink menu is an equally appealing part of a visit. The date latte is a recurring favorite in customer feedback, appreciated for a balanced flavor that is not overly sweet. Persian tea has earned similar praise, and reviewers pair the bakery case with well-made coffee and lattes. Rather than competing with the food, these drinks complement a scone, quiche, cookie, or slice of cake, making the cafe especially well suited to a simple breakfast, a light lunch, or an afternoon pause.

Mey Cafe and Bakery is open Tuesday through Sunday from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM and is closed on Mondays. I stopped by Mey Cafe and Bakery recently and was genuinely impressed. The date latte and Persian tea were both excellent, really balanced and not too sweet. The baking shows a lot of care and skill: the pastry and quiche had a properly flaky crust and fillings that actually taste of the ingredients, not just sugar. The outdoor seating has a great, relaxed vibe. It’s the kind of place where people actually hang out for a while, read, work, or talk, so it already has a nice community feel. Staff are warm and professional, and you can tell there’s real pride in what they’re doing. Thoughtful execution, good atmosphere, and a place I’d gladly return to.

I’ve become a huge fan of this new(ish) cafe. I’ve stopped by a few times now and have tried several of their cakes, including the strawberry and blueberry. One of my favorite things is that the menu seems to change with every visit—it’s always fun to see what the daily selection is! Everything I’ve tried has been delicious and, importantly, not too sweet. My personal favorite is the blueberry cake (pictured), though I did notice they’ve scaled back the amount of blueberries on top compared to my first visit three months ago. Still, it's a great spot for high-quality treats!

I stopped by to check them out, and they are so tasty! I had a ham and cheese scone with big chonks of ham, an almond cookie, and a latte. Everything was great. The scone was moist, the coffee was excellent and the cookie! It was fluffy and moist, more like a little bite of marzipan merengue. Everything is hand made on site, not the same ole same ole. I promptly texted all my cafe buddies. We’re coming back! The place is cute and clean and the service was excellent I took a star off for atmosphere just because the door was open and I was cold.

BEST scones- Moist, flaky and delicious. All the baked goods are great. I also love the date latte. The owner is very sweet. And they also do custom cakes to order.

The second cafe from the owner of Bench is just as impressive as the first. I look forward to the day when there’s a branch on every corner of the city. It truly deserves that kind of success. Everyone should have the chance to experience the incredible pastries paired with a perfectly brewed cup of coffee. I’ve always loved cafes with open kitchens, and this one has one of the cleanest and coziest I’ve seen. If you’re in the city, it’s definitely a spot you shouldn’t miss.
