Mirada Restaurant is a beloved Vietnamese restaurant located on Edinger Avenue in Fountain Valley, California. Serving the community for years, this local gem has built a loyal following among families and food lovers who appreciate home-style Vietnamese cooking that tastes like it came straight from a family kitchen in Vietnam. With a solid 4.3-star rating from over 140 reviews, Mirada continues to draw diners from across Orange County who are looking for authentic flavors without pretension.

One of the standout dishes at Mirada is the Canh Chua Cá, a traditional Vietnamese sour fish soup that customers rave about. Reviewers describe the fish as wonderfully succulent and the broth as perfectly balanced, with some saying their family has been coming back for years just to enjoy this dish. Other favorites include Cá Kho Tộ, the classic caramelized fish braised in a clay pot, and Thịt Kho, a comforting braised pork dish that evokes the flavors of old-school Vietnamese home cooking. The seasoning and preparation style here remind longtime patrons of the quality found in Vietnam's restaurants during the 1990s — a nostalgic touch that sets Mirada apart.

The atmosphere at Mirada is casual and welcoming, with a staff that customers consistently describe as friendly and attentive. It is the kind of neighborhood spot where regulars feel at home and newcomers are greeted warmly. While the restaurant operates under new management, longtime visitors have noted that the quality has not only been maintained but in some cases improved. The dining room is unassuming and comfortable, making it a great choice for a relaxed weekday lunch or an early dinner with the family.

Whether you are stopping in for a quick lunch or bringing the whole family for a comforting dinner, the portions and pricing make it a practical choice for everyday dining.

A few honest notes from the community: some reviewers have mentioned that certain dishes can vary slightly depending on the day, which is not uncommon in restaurants where food is prepared fresh and by hand. However, the consensus is clear — when Mirada hits, it really hits. Dishes like the Canh Chua Cá and Cá Kho Tộ consistently earn high praise, and the overall experience keeps people coming back. If you are in Fountain Valley, CA and craving authentic, home-style Vietnamese food, Mirada Restaurant is well worth a visit. They have the best Canh Chu Ca! Really really. My family has been going for years. We crave it. When we tried to go on a Tuesday and they were closed we went elsewhere but it just wasn't as good. Mirada cooks the fish so that it is still so succulent. The flavor of the broth is perfectly balanced and tart. Please give this place a try for healthy Vietnamese food.

This restaurant can be a hit or miss depending on the day u go or to me who is making your food that day. The taste on some is never consistent like their canh chua cá Bắc ha. So don’t order that this is the 2nd time it bland. One day it good, next it not good. I’ve to say their ca kho to or thịt kho bà rồi is good. The restaurant can use some up dating, service is okay but not great.

You cannot tell this is a Vietnamese restaurant by reading its name. And surprisingly it has much better quality than many other places. Foods were well-seasoned and tasted like some old good restaurants in Vietnam in the 90s. Staffs are really friendly. Highly recommended

This is an OG spot but under new management. Came back and tried it after the old owners to see if it came back to life. It’s actually better than what the old owners left it to be. It has some hit and miss dishes.
