Monaco Hair Salon Tampa is a hair salon at 143 S Dale Mabry Hwy in Tampa, FL 33609. It is open Monday through Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and closed on Sunday, offering evening hours that may suit guests fitting an appointment around work or other plans. Customers can look here for hair color, highlights, styling, and a salon visit centered on discussing the look they want with a stylist. The salon has a 4.7-star rating from 1,205 reviews, giving prospective clients a substantial set of customer feedback to consider as they decide whether it fits their needs.
Color services feature prominently in the experiences customers describe. Reviewers mention color correction, highlights, blending, and gradual journeys toward lighter hair, with some praising stylists for listening carefully and prioritizing hair health while working toward a color goal. Others describe positive experiences with their color, style, or length. Because hair color can involve several steps and individual starting points, it can be helpful to explain your history, preferences, and expectations during a consultation, and to ask questions about the process before deciding on a service. That conversation can help you and your stylist agree on a realistic plan.
Customers also highlight the people and setting as part of their visit. Positive reviews describe stylists as warm, professional, and attentive, and mention a relaxing shampoo, a clean salon, friendly faces, and a pleasant atmosphere. Several clients name individual team members, including Dillon, Mabell, Klodjana, Emily, and Emma, in connection with their appointments. These are individual customer impressions rather than a guarantee of a particular stylist or result, but they offer useful context for guests who value a welcoming environment and a stylist who takes time to hear what they want.
Feedback is not uniformly positive: some reviewers report serious concerns about uneven lightening, blending, or color results. Anyone considering a significant color change may want to discuss the desired outcome, hair condition, maintenance, timing, and the steps involved before booking or proceeding. Monaco Hair Salon Tampa may be worth considering for Tampa guests seeking color or styling services and convenient Saturday availability, while its mix of customer experiences is a reason to communicate clearly and make an informed choice. Confirm service availability and appointment details directly with the salon before visiting.

This post is long overdue and I think the right thing to do is share information so you can make your own decision about going to this salon. I initially came in for a color correction with Dillon. He is warm, personable, and I thought knowledgeable. I am not someone who gets their hair colored often, let alone knows anything about brazilian blowouts or bleaching. I have naturally curly red hair - big bouncy red curls. When I came to see Dillon, the previous hair dresser already had used Malibu to remove the color. Here is where I would have expected Dillon to help. Instead of putting color back into my hair - he completely bleached it and made me a platinum blonde. I did not ask for that. Mistake #1. Bleaching strips natural pigment from your hair and breaks down the keratin bonds (something he never told me or asked me permission to do). Mistake #2 - I had recently moved to Tampa and was not used to the humidity or frizziness of my hair. So he convinced me to get a brazilian blowout. Not understanding really what that does - I asked - will it destroy my curls. His answer "absolutely not" - I will not go over your hair multiple times - this was a lie. For those who don't know --- Monoca's brazilian blowouts contain "formaldehyde" which release toxins when activated by high heat, resulting in potential coughing, wheezing, and dizziness. Another fact he left out. And the mistakes continued from there. I am sharing this because despite him being personable. He destroyed my hair - it has taken me over a year to grow out and regain my beautiful curls. All due to negligence and misinformation. I'm sharing this because as a consumer - read up on the treatments that you are getting. No one should be lied to about the results of services. See the photos for yourself. photo 1 - my natural curly hair. photo 2 - what he did to it.
I genuinely cannot believe the experience I had at Monaco Salon. I went in trusting that I was paying professionals to properly highlight, color, and blend my hair, and I left with results that were completely unacceptable. There were multiple areas of uneven bleaching, poor blending, inconsistent tones, and an unbelievable amount of bleeding from the highlights throughout my hair. What’s even crazier is that I didn’t even realize how bad or extensive the bleeding was when I initially left the salon. It wasn’t until I went somewhere else to have my hair fixed and the new stylist started parting and sectioning through my hair that we could actually see just how many bleed marks were underneath and throughout it. Once she started going through each section, more and more areas became visible. The stylist fixing my hair was genuinely shocked when she parted through it and saw the amount of bleeding and how some of the highlights had been done. There were obvious bleach marks, random patches of blonde where they were never supposed to be, unevenly processed sections, and poor blending. This wasn’t one tiny imperfection that I was being overly picky about. I didn’t even know the full extent of it myself until another professional went through my hair section by section and showed me. The work was bad enough that I literally had to go to ANOTHER salon and pay another stylist to correct what Monaco Salon did to my hair. I had to spend additional money, time, and effort correcting a service that I had already paid Monaco Salon to do professionally. Thankfully, I found someone who actually knew how to correct it and make my hair look presentable again. What makes this entire situation even worse is how Monaco handled it afterward. I had an appointment scheduled for them to address the situation, and they waited until THE DAY BEFORE THE APPOINTMENT to contact me and tell me they were no longer comfortable providing services because they were concerned that further processing could cause “significant breakage or damage.” The irony of that statement is unbelievable. Your salon processed my hair and left it with all of this bleeding, uneven highlighting, and poor blending in the first place. If my hair was supposedly in such a compromised condition that another service could cause significant damage, then I have serious questions about why it was processed the way it was during my original appointment and why I was allowed to leave the salon in that condition. And don’t worry—I wasn’t planning on coming back to that appointment anyway. By the time I received that message, I had already gone somewhere else and had my hair fixed by someone who actually knew what they were doing. After another stylist parted through my hair and showed me everything that had been left underneath, there was absolutely no chance I was going to allow this salon to touch my hair again. Mistakes can happen, but there is a huge difference between one small mistake and leaving a client with multiple bleach bleeds throughout their hair, unevenly processed sections, inconsistent color, and poor blending, and then canceling the day before the appointment that was supposed to address the situation. The entire experience and the way it was handled afterward were incredibly unprofessional. Hair services are expensive. Clients should not have to pay professional salon prices, leave with results like this, and then pay an entirely different salon to correct the work. The fact that I didn’t even discover the full extent of the bleeding until another stylist professionally sectioned through my hair—and that she was shocked by what she found—made the situation that much worse. I will absolutely be posting photos of exactly how my hair was left because potential clients deserve to see the actual results before deciding where to spend their money. The photos speak for themselves. I would never trust Monaco Salon with my hair again.
Mabell is awesome! I love my color, style and length! Thank you The salon is great too, always clean and full of friendly faces:) makes for a great experience overall. Klodjana even jumped into help for my last appointment. Great atmosphere!
Emily is honestly the only person I trust with my hair, especially when it comes to color!Going lighter can be such a scary process, but she has made the entire journey so easy and has always prioritized keeping my hair healthy. We’ve been able to achieve the lighter color I wanted without my hair feeling damaged, dry, or fried, which was really important to me. She’s incredibly talented, patient, and truly knows what she’s doing. I wouldn’t trust anyone else with my hair! 100% recommend her. 🫶🏼✨
I had such a great experience! Emma was my stylist and she did an amazing job. She’s very professional, super sweet, and made the whole appointment feel relaxing—especially the hair wash, which was honestly one of the best parts. She really listened to what I wanted and brought my vision to life, even exceeding my expectations. I absolutely love how my hair turned out and will definitely be coming back!
