With a 4.1 rating from 89 reviews, it stands out as a solid local option for visitors, downtown workers, and anyone looking for a quick drink break in a lively food hall setting.
A big part of the appeal at Moon Rabbit is its drink selection, especially the boba and milk tea options that customers mention most often. Reviews specifically call out the brown sugar milk tea and Thai milk tea as favorites, with one guest even saying it was the best boba they had ever tried and going back for a second round later the same day. Other drinks mentioned include green Thai tea and a mango limeade, giving a sense of a menu that balances familiar bubble tea staples with fruit-forward choices. Experiences vary, which is normal for a busy market stall, but the shop is clearly on many people’s radar when searching for bubble tea in Los Angeles.
Beyond drinks, Moon Rabbit also offers a few savory items that make it more than a simple tea stop. Customer reviews mention a chicken katsu sandwich served with chips, along with rice bowls such as a Thai grilled pork rice bowl. Diners have described the rice bowl as flavorful, especially thanks to a Thai-style special sauce, while the sandwich was praised as quick and delicious. That combination of boba drinks and casual comfort food makes this tea house a practical choice for people who want both a beverage and a light meal while spending time in Downtown Los Angeles, CA.
The atmosphere is shaped as much by the location as the menu. Being inside Grand Central Market means Moon Rabbit fits into a busy, energetic environment where people come and go throughout the day. It works well for solo visitors, friends taking a market break, and travelers who want an easy pickup without a formal sit-down experience. Reviews also suggest friendly, competent service, though during peak moments there can be waits, such as when fresh boba is still being prepared. For many guests, that tradeoff is part of visiting a popular vendor in a high-traffic market.
Open daily from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM, Moon Rabbit is an accessible choice for an afternoon tea run, a casual snack, or a simple meal in Los Angeles. If you are searching for a tea house in Downtown LA with brown sugar milk tea, Thai tea, fruit drinks, and a few satisfying food options, this Grand Central Market spot is worth keeping in mind. Sign in to reviewi am from out of state so i can’t say that this place beats out other options in LA, but this is the best boba I’ve ever had. we did the brown sugar & Thai milk tea with boba and they were excellent. even went back for seconds later ✨
Got really hyped by the reviews, but it was just fine as best. We got a thai tea and the green thai tea, based on all the positive comments. They were... okay? Very generic packaged thai tea flavor with a heavy tone of powdered creamer (leaves a film in your mouth). Same quality as Quickly or Boba Time. The boba itself was bland and somewhat tough, but palatable. No glaring issues, but definitely not a place I'd recommend for quality boba. Maybe we got an off day or the wrong drinks. Service was quick and polite though, and the price is alright for the size.
Quick and delicious! I got the chicken katsu sandwich and a brown sugar milk tea. The sandwich came with chips. Unfortunately there was a 30 minute wait for them to finish making more boba so I didn't try it. It happens though. Everything was super yummy and the prices were not bad. I would definitely eat here again. Edit: came again and was able to get a brown sugar milk tea with boba! They were closed when I got there and said they were reopening at 4pm. I went and got food from some other places and was just in time to get in line when they were opening again. They weren't serving sandwiches anymore and were out of the Vietnamese coffee. The brown sugar milk tea was really good and I also tried the mango limeade which had very strong mango flavor but was also very good.
I was lucky enough to be one of the first customers to try their new rice bowls and boy was I in for a surprise. I had the thai grilled pork rice bowl which looked alright at first but when I got the taste of it.....It was delicious. They had this thai special sauce which makes it so flavorful and you could tell they put in high quality meat because when you eat it, it is very enjoyable. I will be coming back again to probably eat all of the other bowls 🙂 Great job 10/10.
Moon Rabbit is a bubble tea shop that offer rice bowls, specials and boba milk teas located within Grand Central Market. I had a Mango Limade. It was just decent fruit tea drink; nothing really stand out unfortunately. Staff were nice and competent. Overall, I had a modest tea drink.
