New India Bazar is a well-known Indian grocery store in Fremont, CA, at 5113 Mowry Ave and open every day from 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. For local shoppers, that makes it a practical stop for weekday errands, weekend stocking up, and quick pickups after work. With a 4.1-star rating from 1,066 reviews, it is clearly a familiar part of the Fremont shopping scene. The store serves people who want Indian ingredients close to home, along with a broad mix of food and household items in one convenient place, especially when they want to get everything done in a single nearby stop.
Customers often come here for the essentials of Indian cooking: fresh vegetables, fruits, grains, oils, snacks, spices, and fresh sweets. Reviewers also mention pots and pans, pooja materials, and even plants displayed near the front of the store. That variety makes New India Bazar useful for more than one kind of trip. It works well for families planning a full week of meals, home cooks restocking a pantry, or anyone looking for a few special items to round out a shopping list. It is also a sensible choice if you are building a pantry for everyday meals or putting together ingredients for visiting relatives. Weekend deals that begin on Friday add another reason to check the store regularly.
The atmosphere is busy and active, with the feel of a neighborhood market that gets a steady stream of customers. Some shoppers describe the store as a little chaotic, and lines can build even when several cashiers are working, so it helps to allow a little extra time. At the same time, the large selection is a major draw, especially for people who want to compare products and choose what fits their cooking style and budget. It feels more practical than polished, which some shoppers prefer when they just want to find what they need and keep moving. Customer service experiences appear mixed in the reviews, so expectations may vary, but the overall draw is convenience and range rather than a boutique setting.
For anyone in Fremont looking for an Indian grocery store with long hours, broad selection, and a convenient local address, New India Bazar is a practical option. It is a good fit for home cooks, families, and shoppers who want to pick up ingredients, kitchen tools, and prayer supplies in the same visit. The store's everyday hours also make it easy to stop by in the morning, after work, or on the weekend. If you want a straightforward market for Indian pantry staples and fresh produce, this Fremont shop delivers that familiar, everyday grocery experience for people who value convenience and a wide choice of essentials, including those new to the area who want a dependable place to start.

Sign in to reviewSurprised by the high ratings.my experience was very different. The cashier was rude and came across as unprofessional I understand stores get busy, but basic courtesy should still be expected. Hopefully management pays attention to customer feedback and improves the service. The staff, especially one of the cashiers, consistently comes across as rude and unfriendly. I usually visit just to pick up a single item (like methi), and weekends are already very crowded. On my recent visit, there was a long line for checkout. Since I only had one item, I tried to go ahead (I understand that may not have been correct), but the cashier responded in a very abrupt and unprofessional manner, insisting I stand in line. I suggested that the store consider having a separate counter for customers with fewer items, as many grocery stores do. Instead of responding politely, she said, “I’ will allow it this time, but not next time,” in a tone that felt dismissive and disrespectful. Customer service is not just about rules, but also about how you communicate them. A little politeness would make a big difference.they behave like they are in India. Lots of attitude, no greeting, very bad communication skill . We all respect each other. But this kind of behavior and customer service is really not acceptable here . the products are often overpriced and not always fresh, I hope they can improve their attitude. Never going to this store again
1st visit there .. happy with that . store size is similar to other Indian grocery around that area . They have lots of variety products which I have not seen in India C &C .. Price vise almost similar . Good part they have deals on items during weekend starting Friday and lots of variety products. Deal items are listed at entrance. Veggie are fresh . As it was my 1st visit , I don't know the store and asked lots of things and I don't see any issue with staff. They helped me for every single item I asked happily. Check out line is also moving fast and helped me to bag my stuff. Will definitely visit this store now onward.
Fresh vegetables, fruits, grains, oils and so many verity of other Indian products such as snacks, spices, fresh sweets, pots and pans, pooja materials. One stop for all your favorites and needs. I would like to give big shout out to Nisha, Deep, Khusi and all other helpers for doing their best to help and their best service.
A typical Indian grocery store where you can get essentials for Indian cooking. Lots of fresh vegetables that are relatively cheap. The store is usually busy and a bit chaotic. Lines to pay even though multiple cashiers are working. The also sell plants in the front of the store. You can pick up samosas for a snack. I was here for tomatoes and some spices. Got all I needed. Tomatoes were dirt cheap.
The cashier’s behavior is rude and unwelcoming Customers shouldn’t have to deal with their attitude. Management really needs to address this issue and ensure staff treat customers with basic respect. Until then, I would think twice before coming here again.
