Located at 46481 Mission Blvd, Fremont, CA 94539, United States, the store is known by local customers as a convenient stop for everyday Indian pantry staples, snacks, spices, and household grocery needs. With a 4-star rating across 153 reviews, it has earned a practical, familiar place in the community for people who want Indian ingredients close to home without making a longer shopping trip across the Bay Area.
Inside, customers describe the shop as small, straightforward, and stocked with many of the items they expect from a local Indian market. Reviews mention Indian groceries, fresh food that is quite good, and specialty items such as supari and Indian pan masala. The format is simple rather than oversized: a compact store where regulars can browse quickly, pick up staple ingredients, and look for items that may be harder to find in a general supermarket. For nearby households, that neighborhood convenience is a meaningful part of the appeal, especially on busy weekdays.
The atmosphere at New Nilgiri Cash & Carry is casual and local, with the feel of a small market that serves repeat customers from surrounding Fremont neighborhoods. Some shoppers highlight courteous, friendly customer service and a humble owner, while others note that prices can feel a bit higher, which can be understandable for a smaller specialty grocery store. Customer feedback also mentions inconsistent price labeling and occasional concerns about product freshness, so it is sensible to check labels, dates, and prices when shopping, especially for packaged goods. That balanced approach keeps expectations clear.
The store is positioned in a mall setting, with Indian restaurants and other regular stores nearby, making it useful for quick combined errands. That location helps people planning meals, picking up pantry basics after work, or stopping in while already visiting the area. It is especially convenient for families, students, professionals, and home cooks around Mission Peak, Warm Springs, and South Fremont who want familiar Indian grocery items without the scale or time commitment of a large supermarket. For many shoppers, the value is in speed, access, and familiarity.
If you are looking for an Indian grocery store in Fremont, California, New Nilgiri Cash & Carry offers a practical option for everyday shopping, quick pickups, and familiar Indian goods in a compact neighborhood setting. The best experience is to visit with a clear list, ask about prices when needed, and inspect packaged items before purchase. For customers who value proximity, a focused selection, fresh food options, and a local Fremont shopping stop on Mission Boulevard, this store remains a recognizable part of the Indian grocery scene in the area.

Sign in to reviewNice store. If you are living around mission peak this is a good place to buy Indian groceries. Their fresh food is also quite good.
Today's visit was after a long time, as our last vist experience was also not so good, but I let it go, as there are good and bad days in business. This store does not list all product prices, when you ask about prices, you are frowned upon. Today the lady at checkout said 0.99 for product price, but still charged 1.29. The problem is not the amount, it is the principle and trust, that you are getting honest service. You cannot stand at checkout and check receipt for everytime you make purchase.
- Small neighbourhood Indian grocery store, almost all the items are available. - Little bit expensive, which is understandable for store of this size. - Customer service is great, courteous and friendly. - It is in a mall, Indian restaurants, and other regular stores available.
Nice place for indian grocery, you also get sopri and indian pan madala their. Humble owner.
Like the small store, but I do see you sell expired products. Maggie (2 for a dollar) sounded fishy but still went ahead and bought it. When I opened masala packet it smelled bad, then I tried to check expiry date on maggie and obviously it's wiped out. If all this is intentional, not visiting the store again. FYI: took pictures of Maggie packet and have the receipt. Infact still have one unopened one from your store. Don't want to report assuming it's first time. UPDATE: As they provided response, believing action will be taken. Updating my review to 5 star as I don't want to hurt small business. Once I see changes in next few visits, will remove my bad remark as well. My intent is only to have happy customer and small businesses florish.
