Ngu Binh Restaurant is a beloved Vietnamese restaurant in Fountain Valley, CA, located at 16033 Brookhurst St. This location is the restaurant's second outpost, and regular customers will notice right away that it is bigger, brighter, and cleaner than the original, with significantly more seating both inside and on the outdoor patio. With a solid 4.1 rating gathered from over 214 reviews and daily operating hours from 9 AM to 9 PM, Ngu Binh has built a loyal following among those seeking authentic central Vietnamese cooking in the heart of Orange County.

The menu at Ngu Binh is rooted in the bold, complex flavors of central Vietnam, which sets it apart from many other Vietnamese restaurants in the area. The Bún Bò Huế is a signature dish—rich, spicy, and deeply aromatic, it consistently draws praise from both first-time visitors and returning regulars. Customers also consider the Bánh Bèo among the best available in the region, with its delicate texture and savory toppings. The Bánh Ít Ram is another favorite, featuring generous portions of pork and shrimp filling encased in fried flour; each piece is impressively large, roughly half the size of an adult hand. For something different, the Mì Quảng is a must-try—regulars note it is one of the restaurant's best-selling dishes, surprisingly flavorful and paired with a generous helping of fresh vegetables. Side orders like Bánh Ít Kẹp Bánh Ram add an extra layer of variety to the meal.

The atmosphere at Ngu Binh is casual and welcoming, making it a natural fit for families, couples, and groups of friends alike. The dining room is bright and well-maintained, and the straightforward menu makes ordering easy even for first-time guests. On busy days—particularly weekend lunch hours—the restaurant fills up quickly, and a wait of around 20 minutes is not uncommon during peak times. Fortunately, the larger layout of this Fountain Valley location means tables turn over steadily, and the spacious parking lot handles the flow of guests with ease.

One thing to keep in mind is that service can vary depending on the day and the staff on duty. Many visitors report friendly, attentive service, though experiences may differ from one visit to the next. The kitchen, however, delivers consistently well-prepared dishes that keep people coming back. Children enjoy the food as much as adults, and the relaxed setting makes it easy for families to settle in and enjoy a leisurely meal together.

Whether you are a longtime fan of the original Ngu Binh or discovering this Vietnamese restaurant for the first time, the Fountain Valley location offers a satisfying dining experience grounded in the culinary traditions of central Vietnam. Open every day of the week from 9 AM to 9 PM, it is a convenient and flavorful stop for anyone in the area craving authentic Vietnamese food.

We came on Saturday for lunch at Ngu Binh Fountain Valley. I think they have 2 locations. The place was packed. We have to sign in and waited about 20 minutes. We only have 2 people so it was quicker. Me and my wife both ordered the bun bo hue. And we added on a side order of Bánh It Kẹp Bánh Ram. The food was really good. They know how to cater to people who don't eat too spicy like my wife. She ordered bun bo hue not spicy. I got the spicy one. Their food is really authentic. And very good. Great atmosphere and friendly service. We really enjoyed our time there and plan to come back soon to try other items on the menu. Parking is a little tight because there are quite a few busy restaurants on the same center. Just have to be patient.

Stopped by for quick bite before heading to the airport on Christmas Day evening. Not crowded, plenty of parking in a big lot. This is their second store and it is bigger than the original one. It’s bigger, brighter, clean, and more seating both inside and outside. Easy menu and quick order. Staff is nice and friendly. The Bun Bo Hue is nice and good, the mi Quang is okey but the broth is quite salty even after squeezed lemon onto it. I just ate the meats and the noodles. The 3 items combo is okey, nothing special nor standout. The fish sauce has that strong odor that just stuck with you even after you left but taste wise, nothing special nor bad. For the banh ram, it’s huge and crunchy, chewy (which is a good thing), and good. The place decorated with VNese artwork (a huge one) with several TVs. Overall it was okey experience, not quite like I remembered the last time I had with them at the original place.

I do believe they have the best banh beo here. Banh it ram: pork and shrimp filling with fried flour. Each banh it is about half or my hand. They are huge. However, we had to wait for about 20 minutes for this. Mi quang: This is surprisingly their best-selling dish and it's amazing! The vegetable is quite fresh and the sauce is well seasoned.

I've been here twice; the food is good, but the first location has a better flavor in my opinion. The service depends on the day's staff members; the first time I came here, the service was excellent. When my aunt paid the money for the second time, she said twice that she wanted to tip in cash, but the cashier (guy) kept asking her if she wanted to tip in card. When I walked by the restroom, I overheard them gossiping about my aunt. I knew they were talking about her because it was just the group of us that early in the morning.
