Family reviews describe experiences that include both appreciation and concerns. Some reviewers say Notre Dame staff provided attentive care, helped meet a relative’s needs, or guided family members through the hospice journey. One caregiver recalled feeling overwhelmed after being told that further treatment was not available, and said a family friend’s recommendation led them to Notre Dame. Another review describes the value of round-the-clock service and support for relatives during a difficult transition. These personal accounts may help prospective families understand what others have experienced, but every patient’s situation and care needs are different. They should be considered alongside direct questions to the care team.
Other reviews raise concerns about consistency and communication, including dissatisfaction with some aspects of care and personal interactions. These accounts are also part of the picture and are worth discussing with the organization before enrolling. Families may want to ask who will coordinate care, how to raise concerns, what support is available to patients and caregivers, and how the team responds when needs change. Asking specific questions can help clarify expectations and determine whether the provider feels like a suitable fit. The listing shows a 4.1 rating from 18 reviews, a useful snapshot of public feedback rather than a guarantee of any individual’s experience.

When the VA told us there was nothing else they could do to help my dad and we had to find him hospice care I was overwhelmed with emotions and wore myself out calling different companies in the city to find the best care for dad. A friend of the family recommended Notre Dame and I'm glad they did. From the first call to days after my dad passed this company has gone above and beyond to help my dad and my family. They were there within hours and sometimes minutes with every phone call. I met several people on staff and all of them were very nice, comforting and caring. It seemed genuine. They have a host of services they offer their patients and the family and go out of their way to make sure you are taking advantage of everything. I just got a call from staff saying that part of dad's hospice care includes 15 months of grief counseling for anyone in the family who needs it. Wow. I wasn't expecting that. And I just opened a card signed from the staff offering their condolences. They really seem to care which is important at such a difficult time. Highly recommend.
When it came time for my Great-aunt to go to hospice, I had no idea she would be going somewhere as wonderful as Notre Dame Hospice. Not only was there 24 hour service to attend to her needs, but the staff also guided my family and I through my aunts journey to the next chapter. I don't know that there is anything humanly possible that Notre Dame Hospice could have done to make her experience better. Overall optimal experience, and I could say, without a doubt, that taking your loved ones here will be one of the best decisions you can make for them
I am the husband of a very recently deceased patient of Notre dame hospice. I am sharing my personal experience with this organization as my wife’s caregiver. While overall the staff and professional attentiveness that was provided was at the level of good, my personal experience with the nurse and social worker assigned to my wife’s case were very robotic. The industry of hospice is one that requires a sympathetic nature and warm bedside manner, in which the two persons I’ve mentioned were neither of these. I’m of course not certain as too why? But please know that there are always those in job fields which should not be!
My mom will get a world record for being in hospice for the longest time. I loved the first hospice, Passages, but their in patient respite was horrible. My mom came back from three days hungry, thirsty, and dazed. So I wanted a hospice …
My family and I used Notre Dame Hospice for my mom. At first we thought they were great due to the amount of communication we had with them. Things changed when my sisters and I complained the people they were sending to bathe my mom were not doing a good job. My mom had a smell that I tried to explain to them was because she was not being bathe properly. The nurse that came to take care of mom also had an attitude with us because we complained. I was on the phone with her one day and had to let her know that I was getting off the phone before one of us says something we will both regret. When I was in town, I would bathe my mom and the smell would no longer be there. The final straw was when my mom passed; we contacted them to let them know and it took the nurse almost 2 hours to get to the house. According to the office she was down the street from my parents house, but it still took her almost 2 hours to get there. The only person that I would give a much better score to is Francis Wellington. I understand that no one will ever take care of your loved one the way you will, but they need to do a better job.
