Oriental Foods is a neighborhood Asian grocery store at 4816 Central Ave Ste b in Charlotte, NC 28205. Customers describe it as a Vietnamese-owned grocery store, and its compact size makes it a convenient stop when you need Asian ingredients without making a trip to a larger market. The shop offers a range of grocery items in a small space, with reviews mentioning Malaysian products, curry pastes, Asian flavorings, and fresh produce. It can be a useful place to check when a specific item is unavailable elsewhere or when you need to pick up a few essentials close to home.
Shoppers have called out fresh produce such as yu choy, as well as other fruits and vegetables, and one review notes finding produce that was sold out at larger nearby Asian markets. Availability can change, so it may help to call or stop in to see what is currently stocked. Customers also mention sugarcane juice and fried banana, adding a ready-to-enjoy treat to the grocery run. These details make Oriental Foods a practical option for shoppers seeking ingredients for Vietnamese and other Asian cooking, or a quick snack while running errands.
The atmosphere is described as small, convenient, and sometimes crowded. Reviews mention friendly, welcoming staff and owners, while also noting that the compact layout can make browsing feel busy. The selection may suit people who know what they need, nearby residents stocking up on a few staples, and cooks looking for a particular sauce, curry paste, produce item, or regional grocery product. Some shoppers appreciate finding items at lower prices than at larger markets, while others say prices can be higher for certain products. Because pricing and selection vary, checking labels and prices in store is a sensible way to shop.
Oriental Foods is open daily, Monday through Sunday, from 9:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., giving Charlotte shoppers a consistent window to stop by throughout the week. Its location on Central Avenue and compact neighborhood-store format make it especially convenient for a quick visit. This spot has become a Viet owned grocery store. Just to put it out there. Their sugarcane juice is good, the fried banana is good as well. Their store is smaller and more convenient so obviously the prices are going to be more expensive. It's a known concept. The owners are super nice, i was informed that they're having a 10% discount if you're buying 50$ or more. I live 30 mins away but i would definitely come back for sure. Support your local business y'all.
They have lots of things in stock but the store is small and crowded. Some things are cheaper than Super G Mart or Asian Market especially Yu Choy. Make sure to check dates on items because he sell items that expire years ago. He had sold Malaysian products. Never charge sales tax but need to spend $10 to use card ____ As of March 2026 it is now own by a new Vietnamese owner. I don't like the store as much. the prices of the products aren't cheap than the old store. It even cost most than other Asian stores (EG Wai Wai Noodles are $2.99 at Asian Market and the old Oriental Foods is $2.49, Pandan Leaf $1.99 at Super Gmart $1.89, Egg Roll Sheets $1.99 at Asian Market/Atlantic $1.69-$1.79.) They made change to the layout and new fridge in the middle; in the back they sold seafood, even sell sugar cane drinks. They kept the old fridge but it looks cleaner and more organized!
A place that has several items in a small store. Fruits were spoiled and rotten. We've been here in the past and was decent, but our last visit was disappointing. Many items were not priced, so it's hard to know how much it cost. Overall, it's a good place if anyone needs Asian groceries in a hurry.
I shopped here about 25+ years ago & am happy to see that they're still in business. Since I'm living in the area again I'll be stopping to stock up on curry pastes other Asian flavors.
Cute little asian store hidden behind a restaurant off the main road. We went in looking to buy 2 specific grocery items that were sold out at the 2 bigger asian markets near us and they had the fresh produce in stock and at a very low price. Friendly staff as well. If we lived closer, we'd come here more often!
