Pho & Banh Mi Los Altos is a casual Vietnamese restaurant in Los Altos, CA, serving familiar Vietnamese comfort food at 696 Fremont Ave, Los Altos, CA 94024. With a 4.3-star rating from 114 reviews, it has become a convenient neighborhood stop for pho, banh mi, salads, soups, and drinks. Hours are 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM Monday and Wednesday through Sunday, with Tuesday closed, so it works well for lunch, dinner, weekday meals, and relaxed weekend visits.
The heart of the menu is exactly what the name promises. Guests looking for banh mi in Los Altos often mention bread that is warm and soft on the inside, crunchy on the outside, with fillings that are seasoned clearly and not overloaded. The pork banh mi is a frequent favorite, and one customer highlighted a version with pork floss and pate, where the sweet-salty umami of the floss, mild pickled vegetables, and fresh bread make the sandwich especially memorable. For anyone comparing Vietnamese sandwiches nearby, this is one reason Pho & Banh Mi Los Altos stands out for local diners.
The restaurant also serves pho, soups, chicken salad, popcorn chicken, milk teas, and other options noted by customers, giving groups enough variety beyond sandwiches. Reviewers describe the soups as good, the salads as fresh, and the portions as generous, with seasoning that feels balanced and approachable. Some guests have also mentioned a newer brunch buffet alongside the regular menu, featuring a mix of American and Vietnamese flavors such as pastries, fruit, fresh-squeezed juices, coffee, scrambled eggs, bacon, chicken sausage, breads, and maki. If that buffet is part of your visit, it can be a useful choice for families or mixed groups.
The atmosphere is casual, clean, and open, based on customer feedback, rather than formal or fussy. It is a comfortable fit for a quick solo meal, a weeknight dinner, a stop after errands, or a Sunday afternoon when outdoor ambience adds to the experience. Families may appreciate the straightforward menu and easygoing setting, while Vietnamese-food fans can focus on the essentials: a hot bowl of pho, a crisp banh mi, a milk tea, or a simple plate that tastes fresh and well seasoned.
Service feedback is mixed, which is worth knowing before you go. Some diners praise attentive customer care and kind gestures, while others report uneven follow-through, especially when asking for sauces or missing items. The best approach is to confirm your order and request extras clearly at the counter. Overall, Pho & Banh Mi Los Altos is a practical local option for Vietnamese comfort food in Los Altos: friendly in spirit, rooted in familiar dishes, and best enjoyed when you want something satisfying without a formal restaurant experience.

Sign in to reviewFood is very good. Banh Mi sandwich is warm and soft on the inside, crunchy on the outside. Contents are flavored nicely. Chicken salad pretty good. Soups pretty good. Service is very weak. Had to walk up to the counter to ask for some sauces, which were promised but never delivered. An ordered item didn't get entered or delivered. Setting is nice but furniture is falling apart - chair felt like it was going to fail. I may go back, but it could be better.
Attentive customer service. Every food we ordered were fresh, well flavored, seasoned well, and excellent portions. Clean place and open feel to the restaurant. Highly recommend their pork Bahn mi and Caprese. Their milk teas were delicious! They gave my son several slices of cake since we celebrated his birthday lunch here. Very sweet ladies and the food were top notch!
Pho & Banh Mi has launched a new brunxh buffet alongside their regular menu, and it’s such a fun concept if you’re craving a mix of American and Vietnamese flavors! For $18.95 there’s pastries, fresh fruit, fresh-squeezed juices, coffee, scrambled eggs, bacon, chicken sausage, breads, and even a make-your-own pho station (note: only chicken pho is available for this). The pho station is a nice touch—you get your own noodles and can build your bowl fresh. The pastry section has croissants, chocolate pastries, sandwiches, pancakes, and more. There’s also a good spread of fresh fruit and healthy options if you want something lighter. The outdoor seating area is cozy with greenery and white tablecloths, making it a nice spot to enjoy a relaxed brunch!
Our family got food poisoning on Aug 31. We tracked down what we ate that day. After eliminating other restaurant options which we share food with several other parties and they all seemed fine, this is the only place our family had the food to ourselves. Specifically, we ordered one Popcorn chicken, one Fish cake and shrimp vermicelli and one Pho. The popcorn chicken and vermicelli bowl were fine, even though they were tasteless. The one in question was that bowl of Pho. I, my husband and our toddler shared it while my sister only had popcorn chicken. We visited in the afternoon. Later that day, we started showing symptoms of food poisoning. We all started vomiting and had diarrhea for 4 days after that. All of us except for my sister who didn’t have Pho.
I really enjoyed the banh mi with pork floss and pate. The floss lent a sweet, salty, umami flavor. The bread was fresh and soft. The pickles: mildly tangy. So good. Food arrived in a timely manner, and the ambience outdoors on a Sunday afternoon was wonderful. Given the recent string of negative reviews, I was a little hesitant about visiting, but was ultimately very satisfied and would go again. My only wish is for them to have a hot tea option - not just boba and smoothies. It was early afternoon so caffeine wasn't appealing, and I wanted something lighter to complement the food.
