Oh man, this review is a tough one to write out. How do I put this kindly? This is one of the worst bowls of pho I have ever had and it’s actually really sad to say. I don’t like writing these types of reviews, but I hope that the owners can see this and make some changes for the better. The service itself was excellent, I want to make sure that point is addressed. The atmosphere was somewhat… dead, the music doesn’t help. It was very empty besides one diner when we walked in and it made me immediately worried. The garlic butter wings themselves were alright, very crispy and fresh - they felt like they were missing something though in terms of seasoning or marination. Then the pho came out and I was immediately put off by the look of the meat - it was obviously very old and tasted that way. It was also supposed to be lean brisket but all of the cuts were the stringy, fatty pieces that weren’t pleasant in the mouth. The broth was tasteless - no salt, almost watery with a hint of aromatics. There was no driving flavor that made an impact, it was somewhat sad. It honestly made me lose my appetite and I contemplated getting ramen from Kaiseki next door immediately after. This isn’t meant to be mean, I just genuinely hope that some improvements are made.

Stopped by for dinner and had a great experience. The food was fresh, flavorful, and came out quickly. The pho was excellent and definitely hit the spot. What stood out the most was the service. Everyone was friendly, attentive, and made sure we were taken care of. The owner was especially nice and took the time to speak with customers, which you don’t see everywhere these days. Great food, great service, and a welcoming atmosphere. I’ll definitely be back and would recommend it to anyone looking for a good meal.

If you are okay with the prices, I’d say go ahead and give this place a try! Very clean, well-mannered, and fresh batch of pho made everyday! I was very impressed with the serving size and how much veggies and garnish they provided. Normally restaurants are stingy when it comes to protein and give more noodles and broth, but this place had an equal ratio. I also enjoyed their mango smoothie! I got it with lychee jelly, and it was not too sweet. It paired perfectly with my pho. Overall, I was very hesitant when I stepped through the door. I came during peak dinner time and was welcomed by an empty restaurant so I knew something was off. Once I looked at the menu, I knew why no one was there. $25 for a bowl of combination pho is outrageous especially in New Orleans, BUT the service, portion size, flavor, and cleanliness of the establishment made up for it. Pho House Cafe truly is a place where you should not judge a book but it’s cover.
