Pho King is a well-loved Vietnamese restaurant in Oakland, CA, serving the kind of comforting noodle soups and traditional dishes that keep people coming back. Located on International Boulevard near Clinton Park, this local spot has earned strong community support, reflected in its 4.7 rating from 46 reviews. For diners searching for Vietnamese food in Oakland, Pho King stands out for generous portions, fair prices, and flavors that feel grounded in everyday Vietnamese cooking rather than trend-driven presentation. The dining experience is straightforward and welcoming, making it a practical stop for a casual lunch, an early dinner, or a satisfying bowl of soup when you want something warm and familiar.

Guests often mention the restaurant's pho, especially the Pho Dac Biet and pho tai bo vien, along with bun bo hue and mi quang chay. Reviews point to a broth that is light yet flavorful, becoming especially balanced once fully garnished, while the soup stays hot and comforting to the last spoonful. Diners also call out the quality of the meat, the distinctive noodles, and the sense that the food tastes real and true to Vietnamese preferences. One vegetarian Vietnamese-American customer specifically praised the mi quang chay, which suggests that Pho King can appeal to mixed groups where different tastes and dietary preferences matter.

What gives Pho King in Oakland extra local character is the way people describe the atmosphere around the food. Customers note Vietnamese staff and a dining room frequented by Vietnamese patrons, which adds to the sense of familiarity and cultural authenticity many people look for when choosing a Vietnamese restaurant in the East Bay. This is not presented as a polished special-occasion destination; instead, it feels like a neighborhood place where the focus stays on the bowl in front of you, the balance of broth and garnish, and the satisfaction of a meal that is both filling and reasonably priced.

Because Pho King is open from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM most days and closed on Tuesdays, it fits especially well for daytime meals in Oakland, California. It is a good option for locals who want a dependable Vietnamese lunch, for visitors exploring International Boulevard, and for Bay Area diners willing to drive for flavors they miss closer to home. Based on customer feedback, it is especially worth considering if you enjoy pho, bun bo hue, or regional noodle dishes in a relaxed setting. For anyone looking for a trusted Vietnamese restaurant in Oakland, Pho King offers a concrete, satisfying choice rooted in community support and familiar taste.

Vietnamese-American vegetarian here. We ordered the pho tai bo vien (for my non-vegetarian partner) and mi quang chay. Delicious! Great service, generous portions and fair prices. We'll be back 😄

There are two Pho King restaurants within a few blocks of each other and of them, I was pleasantly surprised at just how different their offerings were. Here at the one near Clinton Park, I tried their Pho Dac Biet and BBH. The broth for the pho was light and well-complimented once fully garnished. I found that the further into my bowl I worked, the more complex the flavors became. It has a nice mouth feel with plenty of fatty oils sitting atop the bowl. Very delicious. BBH was really authentic as well, with pork trotter, blood cubes... these items often get missed but are important elements of the dish! Happy they were included here. The portions were generous, and I liked the atmosphere of the restaurant, seemed pretty neighborhood driven and the service was friendly. Definitely will be back.

The soup is delicious all the way through, with the oil slick keeping it hot. All the customers and staff were Vietnamese. You can taste the real taste here.
