With a strong 4.7-star rating from over 270 customer reviews, this local favorite has quickly become a go-to destination for anyone craving authentic Vietnamese cuisine in San Diego. Open every day from 9:30 AM to 9:00 PM, Pho Leo & Grill welcomes guests for both early lunches and relaxed dinners, making it a convenient choice no matter when hunger strikes.
What sets Pho Leo & Grill apart from other Vietnamese restaurants in San Diego is its open-concept grill center. Guests can watch the chefs prepare dishes right in front of them, adding an engaging and visual element to the dining experience. The restaurant itself is spacious and airy, with plenty of seating available for families, groups, or solo diners looking for a comfortable meal. The interior is modern and clean, including well-maintained restrooms — a small but appreciated detail that regulars often mention.
The menu at Pho Leo & Grill is large and thoughtfully organized into easy-to-read categories, which makes choosing from the wide selection a breeze even for first-time visitors. Naturally, pho is a standout here. On a rainy San Diego day, few things compare to a warm, aromatic bowl of pho prepared with care. The restaurant also offers dishes that are harder to find at other Vietnamese spots in the area, giving returning guests something new to explore each visit. Appetizers like the Nem Nuong Goi Cuon — pork sausage spring rolls served with a signature orange-colored dipping sauce — and the crispy calamari have earned plenty of praise from diners. Egg rolls arrive with fresh lettuce for wrapping, and the staff are happy to bring extra if you ask.
Beverages are another highlight at Pho Leo & Grill. The Vietnamese coffee has been described by customers as a ten out of ten — bold, strong, and perfectly balanced without being overly sweet. Thai tea is also on the menu for those who prefer a different kind of refreshment. Whether you are a longtime fan of Vietnamese food or just beginning to explore the cuisine, the drink selection offers something satisfying for every palate.
The staff at Pho Leo & Grill are consistently described as kind, attentive, and welcoming. From quick seating to accommodating special requests, the team works hard to make each visit feel comfortable and enjoyable. Conveniently located in San Diego's Point Loma area near Midway Drive, the restaurant is easy to reach and well worth seeking out. Whether you are a local resident searching for a new favorite Vietnamese spot or a visitor looking for an authentic meal in San Diego, Pho Leo & Grill offers a memorable dining experience built on flavorful food, a lively atmosphere, and genuine hospitality.

Sign in to reviewWe were immediately sat, they have a large menu that is divided it's easy to read category Vietnamese coffee was a 10/10 hit, super strong and not too sweet Thai tea was not sweet enough for our taste but, you can really never go wrong Appetizers: calamari amazing, pork sausage spring roll good and it came with a pretty good sauce Pho Leo bowl was the largest bowl of Pho I've ever had, and it was flavorful. About 4-5 different types of meat and a LARGE tender rib Wonton noodle soup, wontons were good but only came with 3-4 wontons. They were decent sized so it didn't feel like we were skimped on anything. The broth wasn't as flavorful as the pho but still comforting and tasty. The egg noodles were cooked perfectly! Overall will come back, there's lots of seating and would be perfect for dinner parties! They have party pack options in the back of the menu
Ordered the steak on a hot plate, was expecting steak on a hot plate but got some kind of soupy thing with a weird tasting sauce. I love eating at Vietnamese restaurants and I don't know why I had such a terrible experience here. I came here with my husband and only because the place we usually go that is across the street was so busy we had to wait probably 20-30 mins and my husband did not want to wait. My husband tried my entree too and he also was not impressed. He ordered me something else because he felt bad and we got the BBQ chicken and broken rice (my other favorite dish). It was not that great either. Maybe because I eat at Pho Point Loma so much I can't go to any other pho place because I compare everyone to them, they have the best fastest and friendliest service and they already know what I want to order. The service was not the friendliest either. The guy who walked us to the table just threw the menus on the table and walked away before we even got there. We had to keep asking for water and napkins because they don't come by to check on you which is bizarre in a restaurant. Our server looked unhappy and her demeanor was not the friendliest. You can get away with bad food and good service, but not bad food and bad service. You decided to open across the street from the most delicious pho place I've ever had and I will never understand why. Please do better for your sake. I will share images of your dish vs theirs, I meant to take a photo before eating it but didn't think about it. The photo with the quail egg is Pho Leo, the other one is Pho Point Loma.
Finally tried this place after passing by it so many times since I usually stick to my go-to Vietnamese spot. I’m glad I stopped in because they offer dishes I don’t see at my regular place. The eggrolls came with two small pieces of lettuce and when I asked for extra, they were happy to bring more. The lemongrass beef stir-fry was tender, flavorful, and really well done. The servers were on top of everything, too.
This is my new go-to place for vietnamese food. The restaurant itself is really spacious and what makes it stand out is the open concept grill center. It's really cool to watch the chef grill food while you're waiting. I ordered pho because its been raining and nothing is better than a bowl of pho on a rainy San Diego day. The broth was really good and the bowl was a very decent size. Service was amazing, food was great, and vibes were good. Can't wait to try all the other items on the menu.
A newly opened pho spot in Point Loma. The interior is large and very open. They have lots of seating available. The bathroom is clean as well. All the workers here are kind! For an appetizer we went with the Nem Nuong Goi Cuon, it came out with the slightly orange colored sauce. IYKYK. I found it a little thin and lacking flavor, but after adding some sriracha it was more tasty. The goi cuon was freshly made as the Nem Nuong was still hot. I wish they added some vermicelli noodles or daikon, but am happy with the amount of veggies that were paired with it- carrots, cucumber, lettuce, green onion (that flat one), beansprouts, & mint… since they cut it into four (two rolls) it was easier to share with the table. We also tried their $7, Dirty Thai Tea. I believe the dirty part refers to having espresso, or perhaps in their case— Vietnamese coffee added on top. I’m not exactly sure if we actually received it because it didn’t have much of a two tone color compared to other images I saw. Regardless, the drink was creamy and not too sweet. It was nice and cold and delicious! Then, we ordered Pho Ga and Pho Tai— I don’t know the exact name of it that we chose. But it had several other meats inside and we asked for the rare steak to be on the side. I thought it was going to be the usual thinly sliced meat, but it was actually very red. The waiter mentioned proudly that it was thinly sliced ribeye. If I’d known, I would have not asked for the rare meat to be on the side. While the broth was very hot, it wasn’t hot enough to cook the meat while I ate everything else. It was still quite pink as I finished up my noodles. By the way, the noodles were perfectly cooked!! For the broth, I would have liked a little more flavor from the spices, but overall not bad. They also gave us a large plate of beansprouts, pho basil, lime, etc. If I had to choose between the pho, I would order the pho ga again. It was piping hot and the chicken flavor was very prominent. The broth was clean, not overly salty, nor too sweet. They also have banh mi options, egg noodle soups, and rice dishes available to order. The drink menu also has che 3 mau, salty lemonade, and Vietnamese coffee! The price for three people, 2 pho, 1 app, and a specialty drink … was not too expensive! I would come here again.
