Phở Orchid Restaurant

I was in the mood for Pho and being a vegetarian only a couple places have a veggie pho with veggie broth. I normally go to one downtown and they are good in terms of both size, flavor and price but I wanted to try something in Metairie. Online it said that Pho Orchid has veggie broth so ordered a veggie Pho with veggie broth from them. I wanted a small but they only do large for togo orders I ordered it and the tofu and noodles were in the bowl with the veggie broth and the toppings separate. The broth flavor was very good, the tofu were large chunks and the noodles plentiful. Overall what was given was good in terms of size and flavor. The negatives were that 1) there were no veggies - in some of the other Pho that i get from other places they offer carrots or other veggies as well as tofu 2) the price was a bit high. while the quantity was plentiful and the flavor good for everything i received, was it worth the price?

Nice place for a girl's luncheon. Place is huge and has very nice atmosphere. Service was good and not out of the ordinary. We had ordered 1 grilled pork and 1 pork belly orchid tacos. The waitress just put it down on the table. We can't really differentiate which is which. Otherwise, both are delicious. My friends had the pork vermicelli bowl, beef curry, and dumplings. They loved it. I had the wonton soup with egg noodles. The broth was tasty and has a lot ingredients, but the wonton was not full of fillings. They used to come with quite a bit of pork fillings. Wonton were more doughy.

Food was good, but the service fell short. I followed the “please wait to be seated” sign, but it took a while before anyone acknowledged me. Trying to be considerate, I offered to seat myself at the bar due to how overwhelmed the staff seemed. My appetizer was delayed, and my entrée was initially brought out in a to-go box despite dining in, which added to the wait. Overall, the experience felt disorganized. I’d consider giving it another try if I’m in the area, but likely as a last option.

The portions were large, delicious, and very affordable. Honestly, it was the best vegetable broth pho I’ve ever had - it’s rare to find …

We came in for dinner at 8 PM on a Friday night and, within a minute of being seated, we were asked for our drink order. Another minute later, we were told we needed to place our food order immediately because the kitchen was closing — despite the restaurant’s posted closing time being 9 PM. Our food arrived within five minutes, but somehow our appetizer came out after our entrees. It was obvious the staff was more focused on closing than actually providing a good dining experience. After being checked on multiple times, my partner was offered a to-go box while he was still actively eating. He ended up putting his vermicelli into the box and continuing to eat from it at the table. That was the moment I realized just how rushed and uncomfortable the entire experience felt. If the restaurant plans to stop serving customers that far ahead of closing, the hours posted online need to reflect that. Otherwise, management needs to properly schedule closing staff so paying customers don’t feel rushed out the door before the restaurant is actually closed.
