Sign in to reviewMy wife and I love Pho Sen. We are regulars, the young lady knows our order and knows to make our wings crispy! Best pho in town.
Tucked into a strip mall in China Town, next to the yummy Maru Raman, is this lil Viet place. We had Pho Dac Biet (Special), Seafood Pho, Chicken Bahn Mi and the Pork and Shrimp Vermicelli. The Pho Dac biet was ok.. not very complex like the broth you'd usually get with this dish. The Seafood Pho was great and loaded with shrimp. The Bahn Mi was so, so.. a little light on the fillings and average in flavor - nothing special. The Pork and Shrimp Vermicelli was good.. among the better I've had. The only thing some other places had that was better is the vinegar sauce... this one was a little watery. We also had their Thai Tea and Vietnamese Iced Coffees.. which they said they brewed each fresh from leaves/grounds. They were pretty good.. better than most restaurants mix based drinks! Service was ok and the place was a little loud, even though it wasn't full (lots of hard surfaces and just a loud space). Overall, it was good.
Highly recommend the oxtail pho here. It is served in a very hot clay bowl, exactly the same ones that Korean seafood tofu soup is served in. The oxtail is very tender and aromatic and the broth is very fragrant. The shaken beef garlic noodles were great. Although not the best I’ve had, it was still quite delicious and savory. The chicken vermicelli however left much to be desired. Typically served in a bowl, it came out on a plate and came with minimal fish sauce. The chicken was also very thinly pressed and cut into thin slices. Perhaps it is for presentation purposes but we will probably opt for another dish next time. Overall, the food was great and service excellent as the staff were very attentive even during busy hours.
If you love Pho, the Vietnamese noodles soups. You have to try Pho Sen. It is located in the busiest Chinese Vietnamese Shopping center. All of their dishes are so yummy. You can try the Signature Pork Chop Rice Plate or Short Ribs & Steak Pho, those are my favorite. 😋😋😋
Why allow customers to have audio playing from their phones??? The guy just strolled in, greeted the workers (I think he knew their names), and then just had stuff playing out loud on his phone! Isn't that rude? He even reacted with expletives to whatever he was watching. I wish I could've given a full 5 stars. The food is amazing and the service is nice! They even let me customize my order! What a shame! I'd recommend this place over Bistro B any day!
