Piedmont Grocery Co

This store is pricey, but it has the out of the ordinary things I search for. The soup and salad bar I s great. The baked goods are excellent. They have Newman's Own juices and a whole aisle of good teas. But, they need electric shopping carts and the aisle are sometimes blocked.

Great meat selection, nice pies, the package goods were mostly different than what I was use to but all good. Had a delightful time with staff and service, until the manager waited till I was in the check out line to ask me to take my backpack dog out of the store. Which was fine it, my only problem was that he waited till I was next to check out I was in the store for 45mins. Its not that big he couldn't had seen me. No signage as well.

So I go in the other day cuz I wanted a salad I made a pretty big salad not thinking about the price I go to the line to purchase my salad and the price was a little more than I expected and I don't carry my wallet or cards I only carry a certain amount on me around because I've been robbed at gunpoint before so I didn't have exactly what I needed to purchase the salad and I told the clerk at the checkout line that I needed to run to my car to get my credit card , he gave me this look as if I was full of shit and I asked him why is he looking at me like that and he said like what I said like you don't believe me and he's like I believe you or something to that extent so I tell him hold on I'll be right back I'm going to go get my credit card I run out pretty quickly I come right back in less than like 2 minutes I come up and the line is closed but he's still there and as soon as I walk up he goes oh you're back and I was like yeah I told you I was coming back so anyways I purchased the salad then I needed utensils and the guy who was doing the bagging in the lines was like pointing at the utensils of where they're at instead of just saying something as if to say like they're right there on the wall but he like points his finger and points that way and by that way it looks like he's telling me to hurry up and go which I'm already upset because the other guy just assumed that I was lying ,do you see how this all just messes with a person ? I'm now at that point I'm getting louder and there's a woman in the line saying have a good day!!! My point is The employees shouldn't assume that they know what a person is about or what they have or what they're doing and that's not cool it was like I was being stereotyped I have never felt so funny at a place that I went shopping to in my life maybe I'm ghetto to them or maybe I'm not more Caucasian cuz I am half Caucasian but the point is from the minute I came back and saw that that line was closed I just did not like the way I was treated and it seems to me that your staff really need some DEI training Thank you I think when I was leaving also I thought I heard somebody telling me to leave which is like really messed up considering I just paid $30 for a salad I mean that's not customer service whatsoever just cuz I was expressing my feelings of how I felt about the way I was being treated

I love Piedmont Grocery, but I can’t shop here anymore. Why? It’s so expensive even compared to the Farmers Market at the Ferry Building. Broccoli - $5 Ferry Building - $8.49 Piedmont Grocery. - $4.39 Berkeley Bowl. Radicchio $5 Ferry Building - $11.29 Piedmont Grocery - $5 Berkeley Bowl. When I asked someone why it’s so expensive at Piedmont they told me because they don’t buy in bulk. But why then is the Farmers Market at The Ferry Building cheaper ? I’m so sorry, but it’s not sustainable to shop here anymore.

Huuuuuge fan because they supplied a pre cooked thanksgiving meal that absolutely rocked. It was delicious. The turkey was perfect. There was sooo much, it fed 12 with a ton of leftovers and wasn't even expensive?! How does this exist in the bay? Protect this place!
