Pike Place Market was easily one of the highlights of our family trip to Seattle. We went on a Monday around 8:30am and spent about 3 hours there, but we honestly could have stayed longer. Going early made a big difference. We were able to see the fish throwing twice before the crowds got too heavy, and it was much easier to walk around at first. Later in the morning, the market got busier and walking with our 3-year-old daughter became a little more uncomfortable, but still manageable with close supervision. The best part for us was trying so many different foods. We had donuts, cherries, baked goods, a ready-to-eat scallop, an oyster shooter, piroshky, hum bow, ginger beer, and a lobster roll. It felt like we were eating the entire time, which was exactly what we wanted from the experience. Our daughter also enjoyed the market more than I expected. She remembered the donuts, fish, and all the energy of the place. She found a nice bookstore, we found a fun souvenir shop, and there was even a playground below the outside deck area where she got to play for a bit. The bathrooms were okay. Not amazing, but not bad either. Overall, Pike Place Market is definitely worth visiting, especially if it is your first time in Seattle. For families with young kids, I’d recommend going early, keeping expectations realistic, and treating it as a food and sightseeing experience rather than a place where kids can freely run around. It was crowded at times, but very memorable and absolutely worth it.

Loved the whole market experience. There are so many shops to explore, unique items to try, great gifts. We tried so many things day one and feel like we didn’t even make a dent. It gets very busy on the weekends and though the weekdays …

Visited on a Tuesday in July and loved it. The market was packed when we went but still enjoyable. We took photos with the public market signs and got to see the fish throw. Also put some gum on the gum wall and saw the original Starbucks. Definitely worth your time and a must-visit on your trip to Seattle.

This is a MUST DO in Seattle. I was staying at the Green Tortoise Hostel for a week in June 2026, and just coming to Pike Place market on almost a daily basis was one of my favourite things! There is a great atmosphere about the place and SO MUCH on offer for eating and drinking. I was so happy that operating hours were extended for some days during the 2026 FIFA World Cup. I only really touched the surface of the area (Turkish, French, Greek, Indian...). I look forward to returning here when I go to Seattle again! Excellent! *****
