My boyfriend and I discovered this place years ago and I forgot to review it back then but I'm excited to share my review on this most recent visit. We brought a friend along as we were hanging out at the nearby convention but we have been wanting to revisit and we love Filipino foods/flavors. My boyfriend got their chicken pot pie and cornpilog while I got their bicol express. Our friend got their bicol express and pork sisig. I did come there as I saw they serve kare kare on Saturdays but apparently not until the afternoon, but we arrived around 10am. We wanted to know what was in their Filipino breakfast as everyone was getting that but we saw that they were re-stocking it but by the time my boyfriend got to order, they were sold out. My boyfriend really loves this place, he says with full confidence that this is one of the best restaurants in Seattle. He demolished his cornpilog, no crumb left behind and pretty much finished the chicken pot pie. The bicol express was absolutely flavorful with the meat being so tender. The bread outside is perfect. Our friend was happily impressed and said he would definitely have to come back to try out more. We wanted to try more, especially their dessert ones! We also got their drinks to go and they had sold out of the ube baby so my boyfriend got their tsokolate mocha and I got the pandan caramel. The drinks were smooth and enjoyable but I felt the flavor was underwhelming, I could barely taste the pandan and even caramel but it was delightful. The inside is very spacious with tables with booths and chairs. They have several types of hot sauces, self-serve water station and a obvious area to place your dirty dishes in. The staff members were very welcoming and ensured that you get everything you wanted. There are restrictions of how many pastries you can get, but it is appreciated as honestly it's hard not to get more than one. They have a lot of savory and sweet options, including vegetarian and vegans ones too.

The sausage and gravy pastry was the best. Will get again! Also got the port sisig- it was very tasty especially when you get the spicy bites. But it had a moderate onion/green onion taste at some bites. The guava and cream cheese pastry was also decent. Wanted to try the jalapeño and strawberry pastry but they ran out. Will try that next time!

This spot on Capitol Hill comes with plenty of seats, a restroom, and lots of treats. From coffee to cocktails, they are known for their hand pies. Their Bavarian sausage one came out warm and tasty. The poppy seed roll is hard but sooooo good.

The concept of a pinoyshki is interesting - it's basically a piroshki, but instead of the traditional Russian/eastern European fillings like beef, potato, and cheese, it uses Filipino flavors inside the baked dish. I generally liked the one I had. It's not too large - about the size of a small plate. The dough, and by extension the bread is pretty good. It's not overly crispy on the outside, so it's mostly soft to bite in to. I think if you got these steaming hot it would be really good, but they seem to take the ones in the display counter and heat them up a bit. The one I got was the pork bisol pinoyshki - which has pork in a spicy coconut chili cream sauce. Honestly this was mostly just pork. In this case that wasn't too bad because the pork was nicely cooked and juicy. I wouldn't classify it as fall-apart tender as the best slow cooking manages, but it was solid enough. There was a real lack of sauce though. Despite all the adjectives associated with the sauce, I didn't taste much spice, coconut, chili, or cream eating this, just hints of each. It was largely empty outside of the pork. If the sauce was filled in all the spots the pork was not, I think this would've been amazing. Alas, it's still good, but not as good as it could have been. For $10, it's not too expensive for a single one. Overall, it's a interesting fusion that's fun to try, but it doesn't really feel like a proper meal. 7.5/10
