Bruh. The coconut drink and mango boozy drink was pretty tasty. The Mala Aloo could have used more seasoning and less oil. Beef curry was ok, but for $24 it could have used a bit more than a few bites of beef and less globs of fat. The Shan Khao Swe was meh, and a bit oily. For $70 I expected more, but jeezus, I accidentally spent $50 at Taco Bell last week and had more mouth excitement. We took home leftovers out of guilt, but threw it out the next day. Just couldn’t bring myself to go through that a second time. I’ve been through enough. Anywho, I’m surprised at the 4.9 rating. I don’t see it. Maybe it’s the cute outdoor seating or the peer pressure to agree it’s that good. Its not. If you’re trying to decide and it’s down to this place or something else, pick the other one.

I went to Rangoon Bistro for the first time recently and was so blown away. I eat vegan and am often left pretty unimpressed by the couple of plant-based options that non-vegan restaurants have on their menu. However, the tofu curry was one of the best vegan dishes I have eaten in years, including the dishes I've eaten at vegan-only establishments. It was bright, packed with flavor, and had a variety of delightful textures. Thank you for putting such care into the dish! I will definitely be back, especially when looking for a place to take omnivorous friends. Beyond the food, I loved the gorgeous, meaningful art adorning the walls. And I love, love, love the public defender discount. Thank you so much, RB, for shouting out and honoring the incredibly important work done by these folks.

Bruh! I showed up right before they closed, and the kitchen was already being prepped for the night. So I waited. Then I decided I’d come back for lunch, looked them up online, and realized they didn’t open until 5 PM. So I waited… and waited. And boy, was it worth it. This cozy, friendly spot sits on one of the coolest streets in Portland. I had a nice chat with the person at the register about the menu before ordering the mushroom noodles, while a friend ordered the fried chicken. Everything was cooked to order, super fresh, and came out hot and ready to eat. And bruh… let’s just say I cleaned my plate. The flavors were incredible, with just the right hint of spice, and the meal was satisfying from start to finish. A must-try for anyone new to town or just visiting. I can’t wait to tell more people about this place. Definitely recommend. 🔥

We came here for a light dinner as we were in the area. The place is spacious and also had an outdoor area to dine at. We ordered a few items to share - Khao Pyan Sane (Very large dumpling), Wat Nanyoe (braised pork ribs), and Shao Khan …

The food was 10/10 in terms of flavor, aroma, and balance. The atmosphere was cozy, warm, and had a lively playlist. There was ample seating and friendly service. We shared the Khao Phan Sane (a very large dumpling). The single dumpling had a pork and cabbage filling wrapped in a thick rice wrapper, sitting in soy vinegar, chili oil, and scallions. I could eat two orders of this as a meal and be satisfied! Entrees: Wat Nanyoe (Braised Pork Ribs) marinated with black cardamom, Thai chili, garlic, and cilantro, served with jasmine rice; and the Shan Khao Swe (Shan Style Pork Noodles). Both dishes were filling and had us wanting more with every bite. You can definitely tell the menu and space were curated with care. I liked how this location was split in two: on one side is a diner vibe and the other cocktails. Definitely recommend visitors and locals check out Rangoon Bistro.
