The shop’s location and posted schedule make it a local option for people in and around New Orleans who need to arrange automotive service. Calling ahead to discuss your vehicle and timing can help set expectations before a visit.

Reviews describe a range of experiences, including a difficult-to-diagnose Jeep issue that a customer said other mechanics had not resolved, as well as an oil change for a vintage Volkswagen Vanagon. One reviewer appreciated having the mechanic show them underneath the van’s engine and described the service as knowledgeable and friendly. These are individual customer accounts, not a promise that every repair will follow the same process, but they offer a sense of the work some visitors have brought to Santos. For drivers with a persistent issue, it may be useful to explain what has already been inspected and ask what diagnostic steps the shop recommends.

Customer feedback is mixed, and communication is an important consideration. Some reviewers praised the mechanics’ knowledge and described prices as fair, while others reported frustration with limited updates, delays, or uncertainty about the cost and work involved. The business has a 3.9-star rating from 259 reviews, reflecting varied opinions rather than a uniform experience. Before leaving a vehicle, consider confirming the diagnostic or labor rate, the anticipated timeline, and how the shop will contact you with findings or approval requests. Clear questions at drop-off can help both sides understand the next steps.

Santos Automotive Center Inc may suit New Orleans drivers seeking a neighborhood shop for vehicle troubleshooting, repair, or an oil change, including owners of older vehicles who value a mechanic taking time to explain what they are seeing. The customer feedback suggests that experiences can differ, so it is sensible to discuss your needs directly and confirm details before authorizing work. Visit or contact the shop at 2637 Conti St, New Orleans, LA 70119, and check its current schedule before heading over. With weekday hours and a shorter Saturday morning window, planning ahead is especially helpful if you need to coordinate a drop-off or pickup.

I hope that someone from Santos Auto Repair Shop will finally communicate with me regarding the issues I have been experiencing with my vehicle. Despite numerous attempts over the past week, I have been unable to get in touch with the owner or manager. I had brought my vehicle to their shop near Whole Foods on Conti for a battery replacement, for which I was charged for the replacement of the battery, including the labor for taking out the old one and putting in the new one. After they confirmed that the battery was the issue, they informed me the next evening that the vehicle was ready. However, I was not feeling well and had to go to the doctor, where I was subsequently admitted to the hospital, so they had my vehicle for an additional day and a half. During this time, we also experienced wet weather. According to the detailer I contacted to get a quote for removing the mold from my car, he said the degree of mold would have taken a few weeks to get to that point . The only time my vehicle was exposed to the outside elements was when it was at Santos' shop, where I picked it up and it was sitting outside near the exit fence of their yard area. My windows then were not all the way up, and my seat had plastic on it. At the time, I thought nothing of it, assuming it was just a precautionary measure to protect my seats from oil and grease. However, my mileage confirms that my vehicle has not been driven since I left the shop. Because it has been waiting for repairs in my garage prior to me dropping it off I was waiting to do inspections and renewing tags . When I went to my garage a few days ago to take the car for an inspection, I was hit with a strong, overwhelming moldy smell as soon as I sat down in the car. My chest tightened, and my eyes itched. When I got out of the vehicle and opened the garage door for some fresh air, I was shocked to see mold everywhere. My first thought was that the shop must have left my windows down, allowing water to get in, and I was not made aware of it. As a result, when I parked my vehicle in the garage, it became a breeding ground for mold. I have been trying to reach them, but I keep getting put on hold, and I have not received any callbacks to address this issue. I have been trying to reach them to see if they had a detailing service. They can attempt to this issue as opposed to me having to pay someone $1000 or lose my car. I am allergic to mold. I can’t even get in the car to take it anywhere. I have videos to provide them and proof if need be. I gave them two stars because I’ve used them for my Vehicle in the past. And we had a good rapport then. But this is unacceptable and I do understand that they have employees that may have not communicated This issue. The services that were paid for are battery, install and windshield washer dispensing motor. Dropped off May 22nd picked up May 25th.

The mechanics at Santos are highly qualified and the prices are fair. I had an issue with my Jeep that was very hard to diagnose. Multiple mechanics at other shops looked at it and couldn’t figure it out. It was a year long ordeal. One of the mechanics recommended I take it to Santos. I learned that Mr. Santos is known as “The Car Whisperer.” Eventually, he and is staff figured it out. Haven’t had that issue since. Communication can be a little challenging and they can sometimes take a while to diagnose and fix things but I think it's because they’re so busy. It's obvious that they care and do their best. If you are patient with them, they will take very good care of you. Shout out to Tracy and Santos' wife at the front desk. They are always so sweet and friendly.

Easy in/out oil change and mechanic took time to show me underneath my vintage Volkswagen VW Vanagon engine. Highly recommend Arturo who serviced my van. Knowledge, friendly, reputable and honest service.

Sadly this was a bad experience, I was recommended them and was disappointed in the whole process. Firstly I drop my car off they give me little to no information on how long or what they are going to do. A week goes by and I call and ask how my car is going they said they would call back later that day they never call back. The worst part of the experience is that they call and tell me my car is ready; I ask if the battery is working (what I believed the main problem to be) They say yes. I ask if the car is turning on and they say yes. I get there the car isnt starting; I ask well what are you going to do about it. She said we can check it but its going to be a few hours. I basically got charged 250 dollars just for them to watch my car for two weeks.

Called here because they were recommended. Was told that they would need to keep it for a couple of days, but would be able to tell me the problem and how much it would cost to fix. Get there only to be told that there is $110/hour …
