Sari Palace

I don’t typically write reviews, but I feel compelled to share my experience so others do not run into the same issue. I came to Sari Palace last week at the recommendation of a friend and in hopes of supporting a local business. I came with my sister-in-law to purchase two blue-toned lehengas for a wedding in March. The owner kindly offered two outfits for me to try, both extremely large for me. I asked if they had ones that were closer to my size, but the owner kindly reassured me that they would be able to easily tailor it to my size. We purchased two lehengas, mine for over $400 and my sisters for over $500. Fast forward to pick up today. The initial adjustments were way off and the top way too big. The tailors there tried to adjust it again at which point the seams were way off center, which I brought to their attention. The seamstress then said that it is difficult to tailor this top because of the zipper on the side. I asked if they could try to make it more centered and symmetric. They tried again 3 more times, at which point I had lost all confidence in their ability to appropriately tailor the outfit. None of the seamstresses took accountability for the lack of quality in workmanship, and they tried to convince me that it looked fine. The latest iteration was closest to fitting but still completely off center per the images that I’ve posted. I asked if I could come back with my husband (to have a second set of eyes) to have it re-adjusted and they said they would charge me for it. Overall, I feel I did not get a product worth the amount I paid. I am left feeling like the owner clearly misled me into believing that the oversized lehenga would be easily tailored to fit me for the purpose of getting my money. The experience shows total lack of integrity, and I cannot recommend Sari Palace in good conscience. Don’t waste your time or money.

Sari Palace in Berkeley continues to be one of my absolute favorite places for authentic Indian attire. I first visited on the 7th about one to two months ago, and I was genuinely amazed by the experience at that time—and honestly, this visit felt just as wonderful. The collection is beautifully curated, offering everything from elegant sarees to stunning lehengas and a wide range of traditional and contemporary outfits. What I really appreciate is how thoughtfully everything is organized, making it easy to explore and find exactly what you’re looking for. The staff once again made the experience special. They are attentive, patient, and really take the time to understand your preferences. The customization and tailoring services are excellent, ensuring every outfit feels perfectly fitted and unique. What stands out most is the consistency—both visits have been equally impressive, which speaks volumes about their quality and service. Whether it’s for a wedding, festival, or any special occasion, Sari Palace is a place I would confidently recommend every time.

They are sooooo nice here! I had a lehenga and blouse that I had bought elsewhere that needed to be tailored and they were so helpful in making suggestions of what needed to be adjusted and getting it done so fast! It fits amazing now. Truly so so grateful and would highly recommend!

Sari Palace is by far the most well stocked desi formal wear stores in the Bay Area. The minute I walked in, everyone was so friendly and helpful! We found multiple unique pieces that were not just beautiful, but high quality. Their in-store tailor is kind and non-judgmental about size which is important to me. She was able to tailor all of our pieces the same day and everything fits like a charm! We also bought costume jewelry that suits the pieces we purchased. They packaged all the items with such care and I am so happy with it all! As a curvy desi woman, it is so challenging to find ready to wear pieces for formal events. I am beyond grateful to have found this store to help me look and feel my best. I highly recommend this shop if you want the same. ☺️
