SOS Automotive is an auto repair shop in Tampa, Florida, at 5512 W Waters Ave, Tampa, FL 33634. The shop is open Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and closed on Saturdays and Sundays. For drivers looking for a local place to discuss a repair, its customer feedback points to experiences that can vary: many reviewers praise the staff and appreciate the honesty they have encountered, while other customers describe concerns about communication, pricing, or a repair that remained unresolved. That range is useful context when deciding whether the shop may suit your needs.

Reviews mention a variety of repair situations rather than a single specialty. Customers describe bringing vehicles in for an engine oil leak and seeking help with air conditioning; one reviewer said the shop identified a relatively inexpensive part as the cause of an A/C problem. Another customer wrote about a breakdown while visiting Tampa and needing to get back on a long drive. These accounts give a glimpse of the kinds of problems people have discussed with SOS Automotive, but they are individual experiences, not a guarantee that every issue can be diagnosed or repaired in the same way. If you have a specific concern, explain the symptoms and ask what inspection or service the shop can provide.

Trust and communication come through strongly in some reviews. Several customers say they have returned over the years, referred other people, or felt reassured by the service they received. One woman specifically described feeling nervous about choosing a mechanic and said she left feeling happy and safe. At the same time, other reviews raise concerns about being interrupted while explaining a requested service, a final bill being higher than the original estimate, or a reported problem not being resolved. Before authorizing work, it may help to confirm the diagnosis, expected cost, and any changes to the estimate, and to ask how the shop will communicate updates.

SOS Automotive has a reported rating of 4.4 out of 5 from 126 reviews, alongside both positive accounts and critical feedback. It may be worth considering for Tampa-area drivers who want to speak with a local repair shop about a vehicle problem and value hearing how other customers describe their visits. The weekday schedule can work for people able to arrange service during standard business hours; the shop is closed on weekends. Located on W Waters Avenue, SOS Automotive serves as a neighborhood option for drivers seeking auto repair in Tampa. Review the details of your particular repair with the shop before making a decision, since experiences and outcomes differ from one vehicle and visit to another.

All I can say is Wow! The absolute worst customer experience I have ever experienced. I walk in and began to explain the service I was seeking. Mid sentence, the young lady stopped me and stated we don’t do that. It took me by surprise because I was mid sentence. So I replied, can I talk to a service man, this place was recommended from a friend of mine and it’s difficult to find a shop that services high end cars that cost well over six figures. Then this way older lady, who had nothing to do with the conversation, gave me the meanest stair in my life. If looks could kill. Angrily she says declaratively, we don’t work on Audi’s. Mind you it’s been 2 full minutes. She looked at me like I was her worst enemy. I have never seen her in my life. Why was she so angry??? I say you should at least smile to a potential customer, she then tries to play victim and say I was the aggressor. I told her there’s cameras. Don’t even try that. It was blatantly obvious she did not want me there. She had such hatred and ill will towards me. Guys, do not take your expensive cars to this place. It sucks for the owners because a person with a nasty attitude like those ladies affect the could be great work of the service technician. They don’t deserve such terrible customer service from the admin staff. I will report my experience to the BBB as well. The worst 3 minutes in my life. I want an apology from that angry lady. Listen to your potential customers before cutting them off, maybe you don’t understand where a service man may. You don’t work on cars. Anyway, run don’t walk away from this company. Go elsewhere.

AMAZING experience at SOS Automotive! I can’t say enough positive things about this place and Rick. We were visiting Tampa from Alabama for a concert when our car suddenly broke down late at night on a busy road, which was really stressful especially knowing we had a 10-hour drive back home ahead of us. The next day, not knowing anyone in the area, we found SOS Automotive, and Rick was truly a godsend. We were all so worried about our situation, but he was straightforward, honest, and very, very fair with his pricing, which was a breath of fresh air, especially in the world of mechanics. Even though they were busy, he made our situation a priority and got us taken care of quickly, giving us so much peace of mind. He honestly felt like a guardian angel in our situation, and we’re so grateful we’ll always remember this experience. If you need a place you can trust, don’t waste your time. If you want someone who is fair, honest, kind, and truly knows what they’re doing, this is the place to go.

I brought my car in on June 10, 2025, to repair an engine oil leak; however, the issue remains unresolved. Although I was quoted approximately $760, the final bill totaled nearly $970. Despite this significant investment, the car was still …

The only mechanic I trust. We were referred here years ago because of their honestly. I have referred so many people here and they have all come back blown away with Rick’s honesty. My brother went to three different mechanics for his a/c and SOS told him it was a $50 part and it was in and running great for under $200. Every other mechanic told him he needed a whole new a/c system. This was years ago and the a/c still runs great. Our car is currently there with a blown transmission (ouch) but there is honestly nobody else I would trust to do the job and honestly diagnose it. We love SOS so much that we had the car towed to Tampa and we live in Spring Hill. Can’t recommend them enough.
