One of the most mentioned qualities of St. Elizabeth Parish is the church building itself. Reviewers often point to its older architectural character and large stained glass windows, which give the sanctuary a peaceful, reverent feeling. The space can feel especially meaningful for those who value a traditional Catholic environment, while still being approachable for newcomers or occasional visitors. The atmosphere is not described in just one way; some find it joyful and expressive, while others come seeking a more solemn Mass. That range reflects a living parish community where different people encounter worship in different ways.
The priests and parish leadership are another important part of the experience. Visitors describe the preaching as clear, thoughtful, and easy to listen to, with priests who seem kind, humble, sociable, and welcoming. Several reviews mention feeling accepted and treated with patience, forgiveness, and Christian warmth. That personal sense of welcome matters, especially for families, returning Catholics, new residents, or anyone who may feel uncertain about stepping into church again.
Reviews also note that St. Elizabeth Parish offers services in both English and Spanish, making it meaningful for a diverse Oakland community. Families appreciate having multiple Mass options, especially when an early time is difficult to attend, though visitors should confirm the current schedule directly with the parish before going. The posted office hours run Monday through Friday, with longer weekday availability Tuesday through Friday, while Saturday and Sunday are listed as closed in the business information. Because church service schedules can differ from office hours, checking ahead is the best way to plan a visit.

Sign in to reviewThe priest at the mass I attended spoke very well and I felt it was very easy to listen to him preach. He also seemed very nice and welcoming. The church itself is beautiful. It’s an older building with large stained glass windows that were done excellently. If there’s a scheduled mass but the church is empty, it might be in the chapel located at the front of the church on the left.
It was just a little bit too joyful like they're doing charismatic mass. I like my mass to be very solemn, reminiscent of the Middle ages
There's nothing like the love of the Lord
St Elizabeth Parish has so many services on Sundays it’s awesome if you can’t make it so early you can go later to the next. They offer services in both English and Spanish. Me and my family love coming to mass here
The 3 priests that serve at St Liz now are really nice, humble, sociable & tolerant. I'm a terrible person, impatient (but I'm getting better) yet everytime they see me it like the first time lol. No one holds grudges and all are as Christians should be, forgiving. I love this church!🤗💕 …
