Its 4.8 rating from 1,764 reviews reflects a strong volume of customer feedback and makes it a notable option when comparing nail salons in the city.
The experience described by many guests begins with a friendly, welcoming front-of-house team. Customers have also noted the large selection of nail polish swatches, which can be especially helpful for anyone deciding between shades in person rather than arriving with a color already chosen. Reviews highlight technicians who listen to preferences, help clients narrow down an idea, and work to recreate requested styles. For guests interested in extensions, Gel X is specifically mentioned in customer feedback as an option a technician recommended based on a client's desired look.
Manicures, pedicures, full sets, and nail designs are among the services referenced by visitors. Some customers praise the careful, detail-focused work of individual technicians, including an ability to understand a reference image quickly and adjust recommendations to a client's budget. Others appreciate having guidance when they are not sure what they want before their appointment. This makes SugarCoat & Co Beauty Bar a practical Austin nail salon choice for a solo self-care visit, a manicure and pedicure outing with a partner or friend, or an appointment centered on a specific visual concept.
As with any busy salon, customer experiences can vary. While many reviews emphasize friendly service and satisfying results, some guests mention longer waits or concerns about timing and service consistency. It may be useful to allow extra time, particularly for a more involved service such as a full set or detailed design, and to clearly share your preferred shape, color, and inspiration at the start of the appointment. SugarCoat & Co Beauty Bar is open Monday through Friday from 9:30 AM to 7:00 PM, Saturday from 9:30 AM to 6:30 PM, and Sunday from 11:00 AM to 5:30 PM, providing weekday and weekend availability for nail care in Austin, Texas.

Sign in to reviewI had a wonderful mani-pedi experience. From the moment I walked in, the hostess was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and helpful. I loved the large selection of nail polish swatches available, making it easy to find the perfect color. My nail technician, Kathy, was exceptional. She was incredibly thorough, detail-oriented, and highly skilled. She took her time to make sure everything was perfect, and her attention to detail really showed in the final result. The staff was professional, attentive, and did a fantastic job. My nails look amazing, and I left feeling pampered and refreshed. Highly recommend.
This was one of the best nail appointments I’ve ever had. The wait was a little long but so so worth it. Paul did an exceptional job and it was so apparent that he took his craft seriously. He worked within my budget and knew immediately what I wanted after one picture. He would fix his mistakes without me even mentioning it. He was also so hilarious and made sure I liked everything about my nails. Can’t wait to get another set from him!
My partner went in for a manicure and pedicure. The pedicure was fine, but the manicure experience was shockingly unprofessional. When it was time for the manicure, the technician made my partner and her friend wait 30 minutes while she (the technician) did a head spa. After finally starting, the technician immediately began aggressively filing off the polish with the nail drill with so little care that she filed down my partner’s actual nails (from the photos you can see the left hand got shaved down much more than the right), and even then didn’t get all the polish off despite being asked multiple times to clean the rest off with acetone (she cleaned all of it off with the drill believing my partner had fake nails on). The level of negligence was unbelievable. Her nails are now extremely thin and fragile and it will likely take months for them to recover. And when my partner told the technician that it was her actual nail, the tech persistently said there was a layer of “hard gel” which there absolutely wasn’t. The technician said the owner who greeted and sat them told her that my partner needed a fill when my partner clearly stated multiple times that she only had regular gel on. Any experienced tech would and should be able to see that. I was there watching from the lobby/entrance; I could see how visibly upset and frustrated she was. What was supposed to be a relaxing break from an already exhausting day turned out to just make it worse. And to add insult to injury they never even apologized for damaging my partners nails. We were originally not going to write a review, but this was easily the most disappointing salon experience we’ve ever had—especially after being assured the technicians were “top class.” Instead, it was careless, unprofessional, and damaging. A classic case of overpromising and severely underdelivering. The only reason they’re receiving even one star is because of Cindi and the other tech (name escapes me) who did their pedicures. Do not go to this salon if you care about your nails’ health.
I came in at 6:15 they close at 7:30. I asked if they had time to do a full set. They said yes. The lady who started my nails made it very obvious she did not want to do them. She decided to do gelx I guess because it’s quicker and assured me it would be fine for the design I wanted. She didn’t trim my nail, cuticles nothing. After putting on the gelx she then tried to trim my cuticles with the nails already on… at 7pm she decided she was done and passed me onto someone else. This lady tried but couldn’t do the glitter which I thought would be pretty simple for a nail salon. So ended up just painting them.. I’ve left with nails nothing like what I wanted and they aren’t even shapes or lengths. I could have done better myself. Very upset with this experience I’ve left with nails I could have done better myself and they look awful as they aren’t even similar lengths just look at the difference in lengths on my little finger nails.
Sunny did a great job on my nails! I didn't quite know what I wanted when I walked in so she helped me decide on Gel X and I showed her an inspo picture and she was able to exactly recreate it. Definitely recommend coming here!!! Everyone is so friendly and we were a couple minutes late but they were able to accommodate us. They also offer a complimentary drink
