SVS Repair is an auto repair shop in Portland, Oregon, located at 3011 SW Canby St, Portland, OR 97219. The shop is open Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and closed on Saturdays and Sundays. For drivers looking for a local place to address a repair or maintenance concern, SVS Repair stands out in customer feedback for practical workmanship, fair pricing, and respectful communication. Its listed rating is 5 stars from 64 reviews, and customers describe returning for service over multiple visits and, in some cases, several years. That kind of repeat business offers useful context for people comparing independent repair shops in Portland and looking for a team they can speak with directly.

The customer experiences shared include repairs to a wheel bearing and an air-conditioning belt, each handled during separate appointments. Other reviewers describe bringing their Subarus to the shop, including one customer who mentioned a 1995 car. These examples point to real repair work customers have sought at SVS, without suggesting that they represent every service the shop offers. Reviewers repeatedly emphasize that the work was done at a reasonable cost and that the mechanics stand behind their repairs. If you are searching for an auto repair shop in Portland, OR, and want to discuss a specific issue before deciding what to do, the reviews suggest that clear, direct communication is an important part of the experience here.

The setting is more functional than polished: one reviewer describes a worn exterior, a garage floor that is not pristine, and an informal office area shared with the working space. That same customer is quick to distinguish appearances from ability, saying the team knows what it is doing. Other customers highlight prompt responses, professional interactions, and updates throughout the repair process. Taken together, the feedback paints a picture of a straightforward neighborhood garage where the emphasis is on competent repairs and personal service rather than a showroom-style environment. If a spotless, highly finished lobby is a priority, the setting may feel informal; if you value candid service and workmanship, customer accounts give you more to consider than the exterior alone.

SVS Repair may suit Portland drivers who appreciate fair estimates, accessible mechanics, and a respectful experience when bringing in a vehicle. One reviewer specifically says she visited alone as a young woman and felt respected and treated fairly, an especially useful perspective for customers who want to feel comfortable asking questions without pressure. Another describes years of service for two family vehicles, while others praise the shop’s honesty and willingness to stand by its work. These are individual customer accounts, not a promise that every repair will be identical, but they offer concrete reasons people recommend the business. To plan a visit, note the weekday hours and the address on SW Canby Street; the shop is closed both weekend days.

I got my wheel barring and my ac conditioner belt fixed here, both separate appointments months apart. Super fair prices. I always went in by myself as a young woman, and I never felt like I was getting charged differently because of that and I always felt very respected. Everyone who works here is awesome!

This is one of those shops that has that run-down exterior appearance, their garage floor isn't pristine, and the lobby is doubled as an informal office work space with no partitions between the customers and technicians. Make no mistake though, these folks know what they're doing. I sent my 1995 Saab 900 to them for a clutch replacement, flywheel resurfacing, and a transmission seal/bushing replacement. They beat the closest competitor estimate for only the clutch portion by hundreds of dollars, and didn't raise the price when I asked for the bushing and seal work. They even sent me photos of the finished job, which I have attached to this review. That work was done August of 2021. The clutch still feels great, and the transmission isn't leaking at all. I would recommend this shop to anyone in need of Saab maintenance.

This guys do great work at a very reasonable cost and stand by their repairs. I have only good things to say about them. We have been using their services for both of our Subarus several years already... Before coming to SVS I had a misfortune of taking my good old Outback XT to another shop nearby that also claims Subaru knowledge. Without dwelling on that very negative and very expensive experience, I would just recommend that you do not repeat my mistake and talk to SVS first.

I find it really important to spread the word when an auto repair shop is exceptional and trustworthy. SVS Repair is both of these things. They are honest mechanics who are skilled and fair in their pricing. I rarely leave reviews online - my experience needs to really stand out in order to motivate me to leave a review. My experience with SVS is one that warrants a review so that others can be directed to quality, honest mechanics.
