Tambuli Seafood Market is a neighborhood grocery store in Los Angeles, CA where shoppers come for seafood, pantry basics, and a selection of baked goods and specialty items that keep people returning. Located at 1100 N Vermont Ave, Los Angeles, this market is especially known for its wide variety of fish and the practical, market-style experience of choosing what you want at the counter. For locals who like shopping in person and picking seafood themselves, it offers a straightforward stop with long daily hours from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, seven days a week.
What stands out most at Tambuli Seafood Market is the seafood counter. Customers mention the large selection and the chance to pick fish based on preference, which adds a more hands-on feel than a typical supermarket visit. A notable service here is that staff can clean, cut, and even fry the fish for you, making it a useful option for busy households, older family members, or anyone who wants fresh seafood with less prep at home. Reviews also highlight that some shoppers have specific preferences for certain fish origins, showing that many customers here pay close attention to quality, taste, and the details of what they buy.
Beyond seafood, the store appears to carry treats and everyday items that add to its neighborhood appeal. Shoppers have specifically called out ube and pan de sal, suggesting that the market is more than just a fish stop. That mix can be convenient for people looking to grab ingredients and a few ready-to-enjoy favorites in one visit. The space is described as on the smaller side, so the store may feel a bit tight during busy times, especially around the fish area, but many customers still appreciate the selection and the personalized help from staff.
Service is one reason Tambuli Seafood Market earns repeat visits. One reviewer gave special thanks to an employee named Hanny or Honey for patiently helping an elderly mother find items and assisting with the fish-cooking process. That kind of hands-on support matters in a local Los Angeles market, where friendly service can make shopping easier and more comfortable. With a 4.2 rating from 218 reviews, the business has clearly built a regular customer base that values both convenience and personal attention.
For people searching for a grocery store in Los Angeles, CA with seafood prepared to order, Tambuli Seafood Market is a practical choice to know. It may be best for shoppers who want variety, enjoy selecting fish directly, and appreciate staff assistance with cleaning, cutting, or frying. As with any busy neighborhood market, it helps to shop carefully and check items as you go, but for many locals, the combination of seafood service, baked goods, and daily accessibility makes this Los Angeles store a dependable part of the area’s food-shopping routine.

Sign in to reviewInteresting fish and not only shop. I liked the large selection they have. What I didn't like was that not all of the fish were covered in ice, which could cause them to go bad. Because it's on the counter, not in the fridge. Of the interesting things is that here the workers can clean, cut and fry the fish for you. I was when there were too many people and did not wait. But I think it's a good option if you don't want to do it at home.
Five stars for their employees especially Hanny or Honey for going above and beyond in assisting my elderly mother with items she needed to find in the store as well as helping her out with the process when she wanted fish cooked. We appreciate your help.
I noticed that the recent Parrot fishes are from Mexico and not Vietnam. We prefer the Mexican Parrot fish because they taste better and the Mexican water is close to the Caribbean waters which is cleaner and better for fish. The Vietnam water is dirty and disgusting so the fish has no taste or taste like garbage. It feels good to know that Tambuli is getting the recent supplies of Parrot fish from Mexican waters. Thank you, I will purchase more Parrot fish at this location.
The market is bit small which makes it harder to go around, and there is no line designated for the fish area. But It’s cool you pick your fish, and they fry it to your liking. Plus they have good Ube and pan desal to die for!.
I also took a video. I bought these today and was excited to have it for desert then I noticed there was a mold and when I checked the expiry date it was way past to still be sold on the shelf.
