Tân Định

Tân Định is a Vietnamese restaurant in Gretna, Louisiana, at 1705 Lafayette St. It’s a local option for familiar Vietnamese favorites, with customer mentions ranging from fresh spring rolls and egg rolls to pho, bánh bao-style steamed buns, and less common dishes such as frog legs. The restaurant has a 4.6-star rating from 739 reviews. Feedback is not uniformly glowing, but many guests return for particular dishes, generous portions, and attentive service. If you’re deciding where to eat in Gretna, Tân Định may suit a casual meal, a quick pickup, or a chance to explore more of a Vietnamese menu.

Fresh spring rolls are among the clearest standouts in customer feedback. Guests describe the shrimp rolls as generously sized, with notably fresh vegetables, and one reviewer was happy to make a meal of an order of four. Egg rolls also inspire repeat takeout visits; one longtime customer says they remain tasty. For something to drink, an avocado smoothie is mentioned as a good-value choice, while jasmine sweet tea earned praise for being flavorful without tasting overly sweet. These comments offer useful starting points if you’re visiting for the first time, though preferences and experiences can vary.

The menu also reaches beyond rolls and snacks. Reviews mention pho that was delicious and not overly salty, steamed buns with a satisfying texture, and frog legs served with a memorable lemongrass sauce. Other guests have ordered bún bò Huế, sticky rice with wings, and pork dishes, though one reviewer found those choices bland. That contrast is worth keeping in mind: the restaurant has dishes that customers enthusiastically recommend, but not every meal has landed equally well for everyone. If a particular flavor or preparation matters to you, asking about the current menu may help you choose.

Tân Định offers both dine-in and takeout experiences in customer accounts, with egg rolls especially popular to pick up and soups enjoyed at the restaurant. Reviewers describe service as good and portions as fairly generous, while the food feedback ranges from enthusiastic praise to occasional disappointment. Hours are Tuesday through Thursday, 10:30 a.m.–2:45 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 10:30 a.m.–8:45 p.m. The restaurant is closed Monday and Sunday. Those shorter weekday hours make checking the schedule before visiting a practical step. For Gretna diners looking for Vietnamese spring rolls, pho, egg rolls, or a meal with a few less familiar choices, Tân Định is a restaurant to consider with an open mind and an appetite for exploring.
