I grew up eating banh uot from Tay Ho in Westminster, so I was excited to see a location pop up in San Gabriel. I work in LA now and there’s not exactly an abundance of banh cuon places in 626. The few that are there close earlier than I get off work, and Tay Ho San Gabriel closes at 8. So on days that I’m in the office, Tay Ho San Gabriel is literally the only place I can get banh cuon or banh uot in SGV. I ordered online a few hours ahead of time and set my pick-up time for 7:20. The food was waiting for us on the counter when we arrived. I wish that there was table service available, but this place is a takeout spot. There are, however, a couple of tables inside for anyone that wants to eat there (which we did). Also, there is no bathroom for customers, so dining there was not the most comfortable option. For a takeout spot though, this was pretty good. The packaging and branding is really cute, and if I were to have this delivered to me via a food delivery app, I wouldn’t be mad. I love/hate the assemblable chopsticks because they are so cute and look like lego lightsabers but are so flimsy and frustrating to eat with. I also think that the food, although still yummy and perfectly edible, did not exactly taste the freshest, probably because it is a takeout joint. Also, I really liked my lychee green tea. For the foreseeable future, I will continue to order from this location for my banh cuon cravings when I go in the office… because this is literally my only option.

Came here to try their bun cuon. Pretty average. I got their pork and mushroom roll set ($15 as of 2025) Came with a sweet potato fritter, Vietnamese ham, their house sauce, bean sprouts, fried garlic chips, and the noodle rolls. The rolls were chewy and thin and filled with a good amount of ground pork, wood ear mushrooms and onions. The onions were something I usually don’t find in bun cuon. The house sauce was like fish sauce but with garlic. That and the garlic chips added a nice umami savoriness. The Vietnamese ham was like bologna. More oily and bland than usual. The veggies were crunchy and fresh. The sweet potato fritter was the most unique and best thing. Crunchy, crispy, and slightly sweet. The packaging and utensils given were really high quality. Overall though, it’s pretty pricey and mid. A one and done experience. Not necessarily bad or good. Pros: packaging, lots of filling, fresh Cons: expensive, wait time took 15-20 minutes for one thing

Vegetarian banh mi and now the com/rice plate. Most veggie banh mi uses solely soy meat but Tay Ho adds in actual mushrooms and tofu. Very generous portions. Perfect for mushroom lovers like me. Partner love their beef noodles. Banh cuon bomb dot com as well. Tay Ho-if you see this, please don’t ever get rid of the mushrooms and tofu.

It’s the little things that make a big difference! The packaging for to-go orders is thoughtfully designed, down to the utensils, which are carefully and smartly packed. I have to order their Tay Ho plate everytime we’re in town. Banh cuon is my favorite Vietnamese food and what I grew up eating in Vietnam, they absolutely nail the taste of every ingredient in the dish. The portion was also pretty generous. Loved the pandan coffee as well. ‘Honest Vietnamese taste’ is truly an accurate statement

Ordered a Banh Xeo Pork & Shrimp (No shrimp but extra pork) and 2 orders of Spring Rolls Grilled Pork Sausage. The Banh Xeo is large and crispy, with a bean sprout and onion filling. The House sauce that is included makes a nice complement. There's a decent amount of greens provided, the lettuce and mint leaves are a good amount. All packaged in a very nice cardboard box. The Spring Rolls are packaged more simply by comparison but that doesn't take away from the quality. Nicely folded, with a good portion in each bite. The included Orange dipping sauce tastes good with it. More than likely, you'll have more sauce than you need so they could probably switch to slightly smaller sauce containers. All of it was packaged in a pretty cool reusable bag so pretty happy and amused by that. Location is in a busy plaza and parking can be tight so be careful when you park. The store is very simple, no indoor seating, this is run very optimized as a takeout location. They do have a self serve screen to order in store or you can call ahead or order online.
