Thanhmy Nguyen, MD is listed as a general practitioner in Tampa, Florida, at InnovaCare - Waters Medical Clinic, 8408 N Grady Ave, Tampa, FL 33614. The listing identifies Dr. Nguyen as a local option for people seeking a general-practice provider in Tampa. The clinic is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and closed on Saturday and Sunday. If you are planning a visit, confirm current office hours and appointment arrangements directly with the clinic, as directory information can change. The available information does not describe specific appointment types, insurance plans, or a complete list of services, so patients may wish to ask the office about those details before arranging care.

Patient feedback describes a range of experiences. Some reviewers praise Dr. Nguyen as attentive and thorough during examinations, and one family says they were pleased with the care and staff at the Tampa office and experienced little to no waiting during their visits. Other positive comments describe her as compassionate and dedicated, with one reviewer mentioning availability outside regular hours and home visits for geriatric patients when needed. These are individual accounts, not a guarantee of what every patient will experience or of services currently offered. People considering the practice can use them as context while asking the clinic directly about their own needs.

Feedback is also notably mixed: the listing shows a 2.9 rating from 17 reviews. Several negative reviewers raise concerns about their care, including comments about frequent lab orders and medication reactions, while another says they ultimately changed doctors. These comments reflect those reviewers’ reported experiences and should not be treated as independently verified findings. Because patients describe both positive and difficult encounters, it may be useful to read the full range of reviews and discuss questions about proposed tests, prescriptions, follow-up, and communication with the provider before making decisions about care. Patients should seek urgent medical help for urgent symptoms rather than rely on directory reviews.

The clinic is located on N Grady Ave in Tampa, with weekday hours that may suit patients looking for a general-practice office during standard business hours. Some reviewers mention choosing Dr. Nguyen because they wanted a Vietnamese-speaking provider, but language availability should be confirmed with the office when scheduling. The listing does not establish which languages are currently supported or whether every visit can be conducted in a particular language. For a first appointment, patients may want to ask about scheduling, accessibility, accepted coverage, and how the practice handles questions between visits. This overview brings together the listing details and the varied themes in customer feedback to help Tampa-area residents make an informed choice.

Avoid her office on 2696 54th Ave N in Saint Petersburg as well. This doctor is horrible. She would order lab constantly every single time I come for a visit. This is a way doctor would try to get more money from insurance. When she prescribed medication that I have terrible reactions to she would not give me something else and just told me it would help me. It would not help if I take it for months and every time I would feel burning in my chest and ache all over the body. She would tell me to call my own insurance to get an authorization to change to a previous medication I was on that worked! Of course this is the doctor office staffs’ job. How are you serving older Vietnamese patient that speak little English and know even less about health care to do this. I was lucky that my son is a doctor. I am also a chronic pain patient and she would not care about my pain management. Always leaving me without refills on my medication. I decided to go to an American doctor and she would not transfer my file until multiple calls to her office. The new doctor is great and I will never recommend anyone here again. Be aware of this doctor.

Absolutely horrible doctor that you should avoid at all costs. We have experienced some of the horror stories mentioned by the other 1-star reviews, but due our need to have a Vietnamese-speaking provider, we had not changed doctors. However, the last incident we experienced pushed us to finally change providers (and to write this review) in hopes that others can read our experience and save themselves a lot of money, trouble, and frustration. For context, I am a two-time cancer survivor who is currently in remission. As you can imagine, having cancer twice was extremely traumatic and it's something I hope to never face again. Following my last physical exam with Dr. Thanhmy in December 2023, I was told to check my visit summary in the patient portal. I was rendered speechless when my records stated "cancer" with an onset date of my December visit. Thinking that this was a typo, I called their office after verifying my understanding of what onset meant with my daughter and Google. A staff member, in Vietnamese, insisted that the word "onset" means the date of visit, which was the first red flag. At this point, I still was not clear on whether my cancer had returned, which put quite a lot of stress for me and my family, especially because it was around the holidays. After a long back and forth, the staff then suddenly said the incorrect onset date was a typo, despite her initial insistence that I didn't understand what "onset" meant. Again, the whole reason to go to this doctor was to find someone we can trust that can explain to us the information we need in Vietnamese, so this interaction made us feel very misled and like they were just trying to get off the phone. We asked to see if we could rectify the records out of concern that if God forbid, my cancer did come back in the future, we did not want inaccurate records to suggest that a diagnosis was previously made and we chose to ignore or refuse treatment. We did not want this typo to lead to negative effects or confusion down the road so it was important that the innacurate onset date was revised to state that the date listed was merely the date of our office visit. I was told that the revision was not easily done and that Dr. Thanhmy will reach out to me directly. They asked us to open an inquiry via the patient portal so that Dr. Thanhmy would have the background info, which I did with the help of my daughter. When Dr. Thanhmy did reach out, the first thing she asked me is whether this typo "affected me in any way". I was in shock. You'll notice that I have not mentioned anything about an apology. That's because there hasn't been one, and there was never one that was issued throughout this experience. Still, I patiently explained to them my concern. Instead of addressing it, she dodged the question to revise the records and asked who opened the patient portal inquiry because it didn't sound like me. At this point, Dr. Thanhmy had started getting defensive, and my daughter, who was listening in on the conversation, involved herself in the discussion out of concern that they were steamrolling over me. Dr. Thanhmy sounded very irritated and started giving excuses as to why it couldn't be done, which ranged from technical limitations, to HIPAA concerns--even though she was directly speaking to me, the patient, who had consented to both my daughter's involvement and the exchange of my PII/ patient information over electronic communications. She said that if I wanted anything actioned I would have to do it in person because it would violate HIPAA if we communicated over email. I don't live close to her office in Tampa, and I am in my mid-60s, so it's not convenient nor is it easy for me to make this trip. When my daughter asked where that restriction was codified in HIPAA, the conversation got heated but the question remained unanswered. **Since reviews have a character limit, please see photo for continued review.

The doctor is the most compassionate internist that I have known of. She is available almost all the time even after hours and she visits the geriatric patients at their home too if needed
