While looking to kill some time before attending an afternoon appointment Friday, December 20, I happened upon this gem of a shop located on the West corner of North Nebraska Avenue and East Henderson Avenue, on the edge of historic Ybor City. Recently relocated from Seminole Heights, “The Brass Key” is a mixture of curio shop, vintage clothing, antiques, and collectibles. The inventory was procured from the proprietor’s grandmother who collected items from all over the world, as well as from her gemologist mother. As soon as I walked in the door, I remarked to the proprietor, Crystal, of the strong, positive, energy I felt emanating from the objects within. She remarked that only those items that spoke to her, a gift she’d learned from her grandmother, graced her shop’s shelves. I believe it! For those who enjoy antiquing and locating that hard to find gift, The Brass Key will not disappoint.

I stopped in one afternoon a few months. I had a great conversation with the owner because I’m glad to see places opening on Nebraska Ave. I bought two favorite things - a vintage item and a cactus in a hand painted pot. Great assortment of stuff and will be even better after all the remodeling is done!

Store is gorgeous and staff is amazing. The furniture for sale is beautiful and there’s an abundance of local products. Don’t forget to grab a house plant or flower bouquet if in stock! This is a small business worth checking out if you’re in the area. <3
