The Soop is a Korean restaurant at 1902 W Burnside St in Portland, OR, offering a welcoming place to explore comforting Korean dishes. Customer feedback points to a menu with soups, kalbi, chicken katsu, and side dishes, along with beer on tap and other drinks. The restaurant’s open atmosphere and appealing decor are part of its draw, and some guests appreciate the view and the amount of seating. With a 4.7 rating from 454 reviews, The Soop has earned strong interest from local diners, though individual experiences vary.

Soup is a natural choice for a warming, satisfying meal. One customer describes the soups as having a clean taste and recommends adding seafood, while another praises the comforting quality and says the meal felt filling without being overly heavy. Kalbi is another standout in the reviews: a diner highlights its bold flavor and the accompanying side dishes, and says they wished they had ordered extra to take home. Chicken katsu is also recommended by a returning guest. These details make The Soop worth considering for diners looking for Korean comfort food, with options that customers have enjoyed for different reasons.

The setting may suit a casual meal with friends, a relaxed solo visit, or a stop for a satisfying lunch or dinner. Reviewers mention an open, inviting room, an attractive interior, and a view; one notes that there was plenty of seating during their visit. Beer on tap and other drinks offer choices beyond the food. The menu has also been described as somewhat limited, so guests looking for a very broad selection may want to keep that in mind. Some soups may cost more when meat is added, according to a customer, so checking the menu and prices before ordering can help set expectations.

Feedback is not uniformly positive, and that context can help visitors decide whether The Soop fits their plans. Several diners praise the flavor, freshness, and satisfying soups, while one reviewer felt the meal was overpriced and reported that tables were mostly dirty during their visit. Another guest preferred Korean restaurants elsewhere for food, but found The Soop’s atmosphere appealing. Cleanliness, value, and menu preferences can shape an individual experience, so it is useful to consider the range of opinions rather than relying on a single review. For people exploring Korean restaurants on W Burnside in Portland, The Soop offers a distinctive open setting and customer-loved dishes such as kalbi, seafood-added soup, and chicken katsu. Had a google account for years and this is my first post. Atmosphere was nice, the view was great. No crowded and enough seating with plenty of food options. HOWEVER, tables were all/mostly dirty. The food? In summary: it was overpriced neatly arranged hospital cafeteria food. Was it worth $60+ dollars, absolutely not, but we got a great view and they have nice cold filtered water. We didn’t hate it, didn’t love it either. The worst part is probably the price being unreasonable for the quality and taste.

I searched for the best Korean restaurants in the area, and this place popped up—wow, am I glad it did! The kalbi was bursting with flavor, and I’m still kicking myself for not ordering extra to take home. The side dishes were all amazing, and the whole meal had me excited from the first bite to the last. This spot absolutely delivered! I highly recommend it and am thrilled to say I’ve found my new go-to Korean restaurant! (loved their tea btw!)

This place is delicious . Fresh healthy Korean food, beer on tap and various drinks. The cashier lady was sweet. I’m coming back again. Chicken katsu is also a must try.

Decent little Korean restaurant with a somewhat limited menu selection. They have a nice open atmosphere that is inviting. As far as food goes, I’ve had better Korean in Beaverton, but this place is better if atmosphere is more important to you. Adding meat costs extra in some of the soups.

Delicious soul warming soup. I personally recommend adding seafood. The decor is aesthically pleasing to look at. The food has a clean taste and doesn't make you feel full of regret after eating and leaves you feeling full still
