The Wet Spot Tropical Fish is an aquarium shop at 4310 NE Hancock St in Portland, OR, serving fishkeepers looking for tropical fish and aquarium supplies. The shop’s name and customer feedback point to a focus on live fish, including species that can be difficult to find at other local stores. Whether you are browsing in person or considering an order, it is a local option to explore when building or caring for a home aquarium. The business has a 4.4-star rating based on 1,089 reviews, offering a broad snapshot of customer experiences.

Customers describe a selection that includes less commonly available fish. One reviewer visited after seeing videos of the store and warehouse and was interested in finding fish that had been difficult to locate locally. Another shared a positive experience ordering wild L141 catfish, while a separate online-order review mentioned chili rasboras arriving alert. These accounts suggest The Wet Spot Tropical Fish may be worth considering when you have a particular species in mind, while availability can change and should be confirmed directly with the shop.

For customers who order live fish, reviews offer useful details about the delivery experience. One buyer described receiving an email with a shipping update and said the fish arrived in an insulated box with double-bagged packaging. That customer found the chili rasboras lively on arrival and said they would order again. Individual experiences vary, but this feedback gives prospective buyers a concrete sense of how at least one shipment was prepared. If you are ordering, check current shipping terms, timing, and livestock availability before placing your order.

In-person impressions also vary across reviews. A visitor from out of town described the shop as clean and organized, with well-kept-looking tanks and friendly, knowledgeable staff. Another reviewer reported a very different visit, including concerns about heat, humidity, and odor. These contrasting accounts are worth keeping in mind: conditions and impressions may differ by visit, and reviews reflect individual experiences rather than a guarantee. If you are nearby, a visit can help you assess the selection, setup, and atmosphere for yourself.

The Wet Spot Tropical Fish may suit aquarium hobbyists searching for tropical fish, including shoppers hoping to find a specific or less common species, as well as people looking for aquarium essentials such as water conditioner. Its Portland location makes it a local resource for residents and a possible stop for visitors interested in the area’s aquarium shops. I saw a couple videos online showing "The Wet Spot" store as well as the warehouse and I was impressed by the care they put into making sure they take care of stock properly. I decided to give it a try since what I was looking for specifically was difficult to find at local fish stores. I expected the possibility that I may have a couple DOA fish. But they came quickly from Oregon to Ohio without any issues. The Cacatuoides pair exceeded my expectations. The cherry barbs arrived looking plump and healthy and quite colorful. The tetras looked a little worse for wear I assumed from the stress of shipping. They had torn and missing fins, but they were energetic and seemed ok. After just 7 days, and a little tic good food and extra clean water they have grown thier fins back! I didn't have a single fish death out of all of them and my Cacatuoides have even started thier courtship, and spawning already! I would highly recomend getting fish from "The Wet Spot" to all my friends. *update The apistogramma babies hatched yesterday! Very excited to see them grow. Now I need to make a new tank for them though! It's a good problem to have

I most definitely will order from them again. I placed an order on Sunday by Monday I received an email that they’re going to be shipped on Tuesday. Package arrived in the morning when I opened the box it was insulated double bagged . As I was reviewing the chili rasboras They were quite alert, vibrant colored, and extremely healthy…. I’m always apprehensive about ordering anything online let alone any type of life animals. If you were looking for healthy, Aquatics this is definitely the place to do so. Sending many thanks to The Wet Spot.

First of all, this place is like a CONCENTRATION CAMP 4 FISH. I went in there today4 the first time, Just looking for some water conditioner 4 my own fish but noticed when I Walked in it was extremely hot and muggy in there an had a gross smell like something rotting anyways I started walked around looking at mainly the goldfish and witness this…. (Pics below) One fish was even dead just floating at the Top and no one. Cared. But I Was very shocked To see the Fish w the decaying of its skin the big hole in its side, due to Poor water quality and Is Infected . And all the goldfish pretty much has dropsy!!! The huge gut, pine cone looking fins protruding out, buldging eyes. I altered the employees and she said it’s just a “Mutations” and they see it all the time And asked If I was INTERESTED IN PURCHASING A GOLDFISH 🤨😳🤯 If your unfamiliar w what dropsy is is A bacterial issue due to Poor water quality and ammonia levels too high causes organ failure, which causes the swelling of the stomach and the scales to protrude out the fish. Need to be quarantine immediately to stop any further spread to healthy fish, but it seemed like to me every fish in the tanks they had or showered signs of it. I only know about this because I went through the same thing with one of my own goldfish and there really is no cure for it It’s irreversible organ damage to pretty much all these things are going to die unfortunately probably a flow and uncomfortable death. It’s very very unfortunate what I saw today here I’m not sure who I should alert in order to. Help these fish, but I thought I running a review to alert people. It’s the first step. I would hate for anyone to buy one of these fish and take it home and have it contaminate their whole tank. That would be awful.

I'm from Baltimore and I was visiting my brother when I checked this place out. I was pleasantly surprised by how clean and organized the entire shop was. All of the tanks appeared immaculate. I did not see a single ill or dead fish during my visit. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. If I build a tank for my brother, I will definitely source stock from this shop.

I ordered 2 L141’s from The Wet Spot. I had never ordered any fish from them before but I really, REALLY wanted these guys so I took a chance. I’m so thankful I did. They are wild L141’s and honestly I love wild caught. And these two do not …
