Top Burmese is an Asian restaurant at 413 NW 21st Ave in Portland, OR, serving Burmese dishes that introduce diners to a range of flavors and noodle preparations. Customer feedback highlights Burmese Gold Samosas, Shan Noodles, Nangyi Noodle Salad, and Burmese Chicken Curry. For visitors who are new to Burmese cuisine, the menu offers a chance to explore dishes that some guests describe as blending flavors they associate with Thai and Indian food, while still having its own character. Several dishes stand out in guest comments. Burmese Gold Samosas are praised as delicious, and Shan Noodles have been enjoyed for their savory flavor and a little unexpected heat. Nangyi Noodle Salad and Burmese Chicken Curry also receive positive mentions. Guests looking for a noodle dish with a different texture and profile may want to consider Ohno Khao Sui, while tea leaf salad is another item reviewers say they especially enjoy. These are customer favorites mentioned in reviews, not guarantees that every dish will suit every palate.

Top Burmese may also appeal to vegetarian diners. Reviewers describe enjoying chickpea tofu, Tofu Curry, and Ohno Khao Sui, with particular praise for the chickpea tofu’s flavorful sauce. One guest, however, found a tofu dish too firm and strongly flavored with turmeric, so preferences can differ from plate to plate. That range of feedback is useful for diners choosing what to try: ask about ingredients, spice, and preparation if you have a specific preference or dietary need.

Guests have described the restaurant as cozy, and one review praises the service. Other comments mention concerns about prices and the portion of tea leaf salad, alongside strong enthusiasm for its flavor. Taken together, the reviews suggest a welcoming place to explore Burmese food, with standout noodle dishes, salads, curry, and vegetarian options, while also encouraging diners to consider value and their own taste preferences. Located on NW 21st Avenue in Portland, Top Burmese is worth considering for a casual meal or for trying Burmese cuisine for the first time. I really really love this place, I really do. They're just getting to the point where they're pricing me out, especially if I get their stuff to go. Their tea leaf salad is something I live for, but it's gotten skimpier over the years and the price has gone up a bit too. The chicken noodle salad (under a different name now I think) is also spectacular and I highly recommend it. It's a great little spot, just wish I could go their more often without breaking the bank.

The Burmese Gold Samosas were delicious. The Shan Noodles were also amazing, it doesn’t say they are spicy, but they were a little spicy and we really liked them. We also ordered the Nangyi Noodle Salad, which was delicious as well. We loved the Burmese Chicken Curry. Everything tasted great, the service was very good, and the drinks we ordered were excellent too. This place is definitely highly recommended.

This was the first time I try Burmese food. I was told it’s like cross between Thai and Indian. Maybe it is. Or just me not liking Burmese food. It was good, service was great. And the place was so cozy. I should try it for dinner and cocktails sometime.

We went in with apprehensions as being vegetarians it has been a challenge to find good food in Portland. Everything was beyond scrumptious. The chickpea tofu is to die for!! And the sauce is so flavorful, it’s a party of flavors for your palate. We ordered Tofu Curry, Ohno Khao Sui, Burmese Cake- finished everything to the last bite. The server was so polite and welcoming. Highly recommend.

I came to try my country food excitingly. My experience is so bad. I ordered tofu toke, which is the wrost. Usually, tofu have to be soft. They put a lot of turmeric and taste only turmeric. The tofu is hard. I don’t even eat it just try …
