Sign in to reviewI came to Van Restaurant (Nha Hang), on Brookhurst Street, with my parents and tried the **Bun Cha Ha Noi** and **Mi Quang**—both solid, flavorful, and fairly priced. But this review is about **Bun Bo Hue**, because that’s where my heart. For just $10.95, the broth was deep, savory, and balanced like a monk doing yoga on a tightrope. Every essential was accounted for: pork sausage, pig feet, and my personal guilty pleasure—pig blood. Portion-wise? Okay, I’ll be honest—the meat chunks weren’t exactly bodybuilder-sized, and I could’ve done with a noodle top-up. But at this price? I’m not complaining. In fact, I’m calculating how many bowls I can eat before my cholesterol files a restraining order. Worth noting: I ate here a few months back and the Bun Bo Hue was just *okay* then—maybe matched its price point. But this time? A glow-up. Flavor leveled up, value shot through the roof, and now I’m plotting my return like a noodle-obsessed villain. **Ambience?** Clean and functional. This isn’t some bougie fusion spot trying to impress you with bamboo water features. It’s a no-frills, eat-pay-go setup—and honestly, that’s exactly how I like it. In, out, full, happy. **Final Verdict:** If you love Bun Bo Hue, or just like spending about $11 on a meal, Van Restaurant, is a must. Order 2–3 additional dishes for yourself. No one's judging. You work hard. Eat harder. Hope owners don’t raise the price. 🙏 Ate there in summer of 2025. I was told price has gone up but not verified.
This place makes vietnamese community so humble and welcoming. Crepe banh xeo is the iconic dish. Its affordable and delicious. All portions are go to fill you good. Very few left with to go boxes. Most people left with the steamy snacks they had on the stands.
This was one of the best Vietnamese restaurants I have ever been too - the place felt very authentic and a bit of controlled chaos. Service was prompt and friendly. But egg rolls ever! And the noodles with fish sauce were so yummy. Dishes are cheap - under $8
I heard about how good this place was from a couple of people. We decided to give them a try! As soon as you walk in, the place was almost full for a late afternoon. You go sit where there is an available seat which I like. Through all the chaos, the server came over immediately to take our orders. There is so many good choices with pictures and detail descriptions on the menu so you don’t have to guess what comes with what dish. The food came out very quickly even when the place was almost full! The prices are reasonable as I think it is the go to place if you are on a budget. The entire process and vibe reminds me of being in Vietnam. We ordered three items and it all came out good! The place allows you to come in and have a quick bite or sit and stay as long as you want. When you finish, you go up and pay at the register. They also sell a little bit of take home food. I will definitely come back and try their other dishes. If you are expecting a full service 5 star style restaurant, do not come here. It is just a good overall place to go and I highly recommend you come try it. Good food, quick service, and great value!
A hidden gem for Vietnamese comfort food. Everytime i am in Orange cnty, this is the place for bun rieu oc. I can eat it everyday, lol. Banh xeo is also a popular choice but i dont think it that good. Reasonable price overall.
